Whats the difference between Shield Wall and Hoplite Phalanx?

Hey so was wondering if anybody new the difference between the hoplite phalanx and the generic shield wall?
Physically they both look the same. Same formation and all. It seems the only difference I can see is that shield wall is wood and hoplite phalanx is bronze.
Are there differences in defensive boosts? Does anybody know the stat increases? Also does anybody know if tactically its better to even go into these formations?
Does it make the unit harder to break or kill. Only reason I ask is because every time I do it, the formation breaks up or only like the front line is fighting and the rest of the men are just standing there. It seems that they stand there to get cut down. Almost if they were fighting in normal mode, all of them would be attacking and actually doing some damage.

There isn't much, incidentally. In the game files, the stat bonuses that are assigned to the 'Hoplite Wall' (what they renamed 'Hoplite Phalanx' to when they didn't fix it...) are very similar. To compare Shield Wall versus 'Hoplite Wall' in terms of their stat modifiers:


'Hoplite Wall'/Phalanx:

Better bracing (300%)
Better melee defence (150%)
Better shield defence (150%)


Shield Wall:

Worse bracing (200%)
Worse melee defence (115%)
Worst shield defence (125%)
Armour bonus to shield armour (120%)


As for the formations... Well, I suppose the 'Hoplite Wall' isn't half as useless as the formation in the screenshot above...

Seems that both formations have hideously loosely spaced men for what they're meant to be doing, though. I can't find a db file which controls special ability formation spacing, unfortunately...

Shield Wall is the way they try to fight as Roman Legionaries style as example Silver Shield Infantry, they try to learn to fight as Roman Style after those Roman beaten them, they adopted

As result, They use Shield Wall in battle

Hoplite its as you can see, its Shield Wall with deadly pointy to the front
