only gettin half a screen when game starts up

Hi, when I start the game up, i am only getting half a screen show up, I tried to fix it myself by looking at what other players have done to solve the problem but it did not work, unfortunately I am some what computer illiterate and can not understand any of the threads that I the forum is there any one that can help a computer novice, as I love this game and haven't played it for too long

Have you tried changing resolutions in the ingame Options?

Hi irishron, when I click on settings it comes up with proxy address, proxy user , proxy username and proxy password and all these boxes are empty, I guess I need to fill them in but I have no idea where to get this information from.

Wrong option.

Start the game, click Options, click Video Settings.

unfortunately I cant click on options because that half of the screen is missing, it only shows the right hand side of the screen which is now on the left hand side and the rest of the screen is black and I cannot mouse over the black half.

In Vista, Win 7/8/8.1,

Click Start,
In the box above it, type dxdiag > Enter,
In the next box, on the bottom of it, click Save All Info,
Save it to your desktop,
Attach it to your next post or copy/paste its contents, which is easier for you.

Do you have the install disc that came with your motherboard?

I will give it a go I just installed rome total war and I am having the same problem, sorry about the late reply too much work to do on the farm.
