...and it's still rubbish.
I wonder what the mood is like at CA, are they defensive and criticize the customers because the game has been universally blasted or are they their own worst critics and are (mistakenly) trying to revive a dead horse?

Rubbish to you maybe but I still enjoy the game.
you are using the dead horse trope wrong.
Named for "Beatingnote a Dead Horse" - an old idiom that describes continuing in a course of action which is clearly pointless. For instance, there's no use in whipping your dead horse to make it move faster — that horse is dead; it's not going anywhere.
and that is what you more or less doing right now.

"universally blasted"
Hasn't this game been critically acclaimed? Like, aren't most game sites giving it great scores?
The only place I have seen it "Blasted" has been here and Metacritic user reviews. Neither of which are exactly "Unbiased." (I swear if I see one more post saying "This isn't for TRUE Total War fans!"...)
"Rajadharma! The Duty of Kings. Know you: Kingship is a Trust. The King is the most exalted and conscientious servant of the people."
Ahhahahahahhaha and gaming magazins are WELL KNOWN for their honesty:

Nice try....put more effort in it next time.
A few dozens professional testers says yes, thousands anonymous players says no: who do you choose to believe?
This topic is interesting in the part that CA has proclaimed that they would continue patching full speed for a very long time, but 9 patches in 5 months is not that good, even more when you only count those few patches who really made a difference (like that last one).
Worst hater thread eva.
yep...but this dead horse is a creature by George Romero, still able to hit your nerves even if dead![]()
Oh boy.
I think I'm going to start another thread about how Rome 2 is a pile of equum stercore and work in the phrase 'who let the rat out of the bag' and like a horde of ceratitis capitata to a fouled peach the English Language National Socialists brigade of TWCenter will arrive clinging to the stirrups of the Rome 2 fanboys like the 92nd Gordon Highlanders to the Scots Greys at Waterloo, screaming 'cat!'.

IMO having so many patches in such a short duration is not only possibly detrimental to player experiences (besides spoiled gameplay, sometimes things are complicated if you don't star a fresh new campaign; and not to mention mods can get messed up, but also reflects the lack of commitment and effort into putting quality into products before releasing them. If it was September 2nd again, I wouldn't even bother playing or even talk about the game because it is so badly done.
If the condition of Rome2 during September 3rd was at the quality as it is now, I'd still consider it a bad game. Not horrible, but not good either.
If they don't want to be "attacked" for how they fix the game, then they should have considered just not releasing it then. I did not expect Rome2 being THIS bad, even given my cynicism of their development and quality of work prior to release. The real credit is that they release a very shoddy product, and they should NEVER have done that. How many patches and whether they actually fix it is immaterial, not to mention unlikely, because in the end, they decided to release a game THIS bad.
The rebuke of "nevering do that again" was applicable after Empire. With Rome2, it's "you definitely thought you could get away with doing it a second time". If anything patches are hurting this game's reputation because it is reinforcing the fact that they have done things poorly.
As these professional reviewers said of Rome II, "you can't patch bad game design."

Hopefully they completely redesign the game in an expansion, but more likely we'll get another CiG style release and the real energy goes into Warhammer or whatnot.
The other part of me says, hopefully they ditch Rome II and Warscape and start all over again and we don't hear about TW for another two years or more.![]()
Nothing much to discussed.
