The Twins consists of two identical castles standing on a margin of the Green Fork of the Trident. A stone bridge arches between them. This bridge is wide enough for two wagons to cross abreast, and is guarded by a tower in the middle known as the Water Tower. It is the only crossing point over the Green Fork for hundreds of miles in either direction, from the North to the western Riverlands. It lies directly athwart the main route from Winterfell to Riverrun.The Freys have held the crossing of the Green Fork for six hundred years. It took them three generations to complete the bridge, after which they built timber keeps on each bank of the river. Since then, the Freys have grown wealthy by charging a heavy toll on all those who need to cross - a fact which irks many older or more powerful houses. The timber keeps have since been replaced by stone. These castles are what give the stronghold its name, for they are identical. They have high curtain walls, deep moats and a barbican and portcullis in each. The bridge footings rise from within the inner keeps. Given their strong castle, strategic location, wealth, and numbers, the Freys are one of the most powerful banner houses sworn to House Tully. The seat of the Lord of The Crossing is a massive chair of black oak. Its back is carved in the shape of two towers joined by an arched bridge.

The Twins

The Crossing: Consisting of two identical castles straddling the Green Fork, The Twins is not a pretty fortress, but it is a fortress nonetheless, and a vital one, for it controls one of the few river crossings. +3 to siege defense.
Toll: Due to the influx of merchants and lords who cross the twins, House Frey has made a pretty penny on crossing fees. +2.5% to income.

ooc: Amazing, Walder Frey is 26 years old in 233 AL! He is that old?? Lucky you, Dunk&Egg gives a good amount of details about Freys in this setting.

My Lord Frey, that were our thoughts about that subject. However the decision depends on what the other Lord Paramount decide. I will be the voice of the Riverlands. If your Lord wishes to send a representative of your noble House to counsel myself in the Council you are free to do so, Lord Walder.

A group of riders dressed in a drab grey arrive from the northern end of the Crossing bearing the sigil of House Bolton. Ramsay Bolton, the son of Lord Ronnel Bolton, led the group. Ramsay called out to the guardsmen on the tower. "We'll have a word with Lord Frey and be on our way."

Shortly after the Boltons had been allowed into the main hall the young lord rolled of the whore with a sigh.

"I'll pay you later." He said to her. The guard shifted from watching lord Frey dressing to the naked girl in his bed. Lord Frey arrived in a simple tunic and beige pants. He looked to Ramsay after seating the Black Oak chair.

"Northman, what brings you here?"

Ramsay stepped forward, he was like a shadow of his father, the same fair complexion, dark hair, and seemingly dead eyes. "To make friends of the Freys, one way or another. Stark is down in Winterfell and that leaves very little authority in the north. While the wolf's away the flayed man will play, as it were."

"Ah." Walder Frey responded. "Well, house Frey would not be against making house Bolton their friends. You're infamous even down south." He chuckled.

"Wouldn't happen to have any daughters lying around, would you?" Ramsay looked about the place. "We'd be glad to have the most powerful Riverlord as a friend."

Frey smiled.

"Only baseborn gals. Though I have sister, three-and-ten years she has on her... I believe she bled... Last month?" He looked to his mother, whose frowning face nodded.

"Ah, her teats are small as of now, but she inherited some nice wide hips." Walder's tongue wiped his dry lips.

"And we would be equally pleased to call house Bolton our allies."

"I'll send her North in two moons then, Bolton. She'll be most eager to wed the next lord of the Dreadfort." Walder answered.

"Then it's done. I'll put a child in her belly and when I die he will rule the Dreadfort. In the meantime our doors will be open to you, as, we hope, shall yours be open to us." A glimpse of deep winter twinkled in Ramsay's cold, dead eyes for a moment and was gone.
