Highgarden responds with a positive reply to the proposal. Fruits will be sent down the Mander and to Gulltown where they then are carried to the Eyrie.

A company of Baratheon men-at-arms arrive at the base of the path to the Eyrie, and request passage.

A guide takes them up the perilous mountain pathways that lead from the valley below up to the Eyrie. Crossing the drawbridge, the party are shown through into the main hall, which provides a welcome heat from the perpetual wind that batters this island in the clouds.

Lord Hugo appears from a side door, silently pacing towards his seat. He sits, looking at the men in Baratheon sigils, clearly waiting for them to speak first.

A young man steps forward and bows to the Lord of the Eyrie.

"My lord, I am Orys Baratheon, heir to Storm's End. We have come to discuss a marriage between our two houses. Would you be interested? We have my brother, 18 years of age, my sister, who is but nine, and my uncle, who is 35 if you have any women over perhaps 25 years who remain unmarried."

A brief smile - rare from Hugo - flashed across the Lord's mouth.

"I've a second son of 27 years, and two daughters of 18 and 16 years. Take your pick, Orys Baratheon."

Hugo was quietly aware that he'd backed Aemon over Aegon a year ago for the Kingship, something King Aegon may not have forgotten, or indeed not forgiven. While the sympathy of the Reach could probably be counted on should Aegon make any moves to punish the Eyrie for their wrongly placed vote, securing allies from within Aegon's 'camp' would serve his security well.

"Tell me about your 18-year old daughter, so that I may decide whether she will be a fitting match for Durran. He is arrogant, and proud, and would like a woman with a bit of spirit and will, but one who would surrender to his requests in the end."

If this comes through, it will be one less supporter for Aemon, if this mess comes to war.
