Arverni the strongest/most well rounded faction?

They have the best infantry, the best cavalry in melee with a respectable charge too, great skirmishers and a great spear unit. I mean I've got to a stage in my campaign where a typical set up of 10 oahtsworn, 4 noble cavalry, 4 archers/skirmishers and 2 balistas just steam through everything lol.

But as for the singeplayer, just get 10 ballistas in an army and you don't even have to fight...

The Arverni are my favorite faction to play as. It would be Parthia but the horse archers are too broken

i only play in sp, but imo for best overall will be egypt, seleucid or rome
for barbarian i like iceni better because of the slinger plus it has better upgrades from temple
nomadic's horse archer on the other hand can be quite amazing w/ all of the upgrades, my horse archer has 70 missile dmg

Not even close, the top 3 factions militarily speaking are the Seleucids, Egyptians, and the Macedonians. Just look at the unit stats and the overall variety of their unit selection.

This. Though Rome are now pretty awesome with formation attack being buffed and fixed in patch 9 beta so they might make top 3 now.
Praetorian Guard own Oathsworn now due to formation attack buff as well. Never mind Royal Galatians or Foot Companions

Balance change every patch, it doesn't take away that for several patches the Arvernia was considered the strongest.

I have played both, and in my experience legionaries>pikemen, especially in terms of the casualties they take in battle.
I find defeating my enemies at little cost and keeping my generals alive much easier as Rome

This, Seleucids have the best rooster ingame, they have everything of everything, ligth,medium and Heavy units of each class with strong elites at the end, hell they have an unit that is the same as Oathsworn and the best pikes,the only thing Arverni have over Seleucids is heavy melee cav, but Azat knigths come close enough to Noble horse.

+ Elephants or shockcav kills noble horses anyway in a normal straight up charge.

Hmm, but I rarely encounter Averni armies that have tons of Oathsworns in them. Usually it's 1 (or 2 at the most) Oathsworn or noble cav, a bunch of skirmishers and slingers and a couple of light melee cav and the rest are spearmen. Whereas the average Roman army will consist mostly of legionary cohorts of some sort which can easily best that mix.

BETA patch makes Arverni horribly weak against any faction with formation attack.
