Default Gonna order for new build tonite

Ok so I have finally got fed up with my P4C 3ghz and 6600GT combo (which will become my new network server) and have decided to build a totally new machine (since the otherone is not very upgrade friendly at the moment)

I have decided to go with AMD on this one
Here is what I am looking at
    (all prices in CDN $$)

    AMD Athlon X2 4800+ AM2 (2x1mb) $365
    DFI LANParty UT NF590 SLI-M2R/G ATX AM2 Nforce 590 SLI -$254
    OCZ Gold XTC PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL5-5-5-12 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel -$311
    EVGA E-GEFORCE 7900 GTO 650MHZ PCI-E 512MB 256BIT 1.32GHZ GDDR3 Dual DVI-I HDTV Out Video Card $300
or the 7950 version, which is about $100 more, havent decided if its worth it yet.
    OCZ 600 gaming PSU - $130
seagate 320 gb SATA HDD -$130
and a cheap case to hold me over until i have more money, and a cheap DVD writer.

all told its going to cost around $1800 with taxes and shipping and the like.

You should go Conroe, the E6600 is just a little more than the 5000, but is a lot better, or go wit hthe E6400 if your cash is tight.
Looks like a good mobo, but if you go Conroe then you will need an skt 775 one instead.
RAM looks good, although I got Corsair (2x1GB) PC6400 DDR2 800 RAM for slightly cheaper I think (how much CND to GBP?)
Good GPU, although I dont think that the 7950 is worth the extra $100, especially if you are planning on SLI, that would be an extra $200 for very little performance gain.
Although are you sure you dont want an ATI? the X1900XT is very good at a really good price.

I am fed up with Intel, so thats why im sticking with AMD. i looked at the corsair, its a bit more expensive, plus the OCZ stuff has an extra rebate on it. Im going with an Nvidia Mobo, so I would tend to prefer an Nvidia card.

Yes, I too hate teh crappy pentiums, but Conroe's are much better and very un-intel like, plus I just want the best my money could afford, so I went E6600.

I hate Intel also, but if your are going to pay that much for a processor I would also get a Conroe E6600.

Pentium 4 sucks, but the Core 2 Duo is really the best and fastest avilable right now.

Go with the 7900GTO for the graphics. Or wait till DX10, which is coming very soon.

Upon investigation, looks like im going to have to go with the 4600+ as the 4800's are out of stock for AM2, and the 4600 is offered as a bundle with the motherboard ($286) and yeah im going with the 7900GTO

The 4800 is a lot better than the 4600 with 2mb of L2cache compared to 1mb... I would wait for them to come back in stock or buy it from somewhere else.

Good choice with the GTO - best bang for your buck for high end cards.

Im sure you could find one for the same price as a 4800, I could. Prices can differ very much if you look for it.

None of the places I order from had either the 4800 or 5000 in stock (AM2 versions), hence I went with the 4600 both because it was in stock and because I got a deal on it bundled with the DFI NF590 SLI board I bought.

5000+ uses 2x512kb cache instead of 4800+'s 2x1mb so its actually a better processor then the 5000. or did they change that?
