As the article says:
"Put simply, education is one of the biggest contributing factors to the well-being of a country, as it impacts so many different other areas of life."

While I don't 100% trust the site since it mentions a study without linking to it, I was surprised by the results.

Mexico to have just 36% of people with highschool degree? And scoring so low in student skills kinda invalidating even the 1/3 that have finished highschool? I knew Mexico was somewhat bad in schools, but not THAT bad.
PORTUGAL with only 36% people having finished highschool??!?


Also, for fairness, I find the study incomplete. I doubt that Somalia has 1/3 people with highschool degree for example.

I would point out chaps that for some reason of their own, the articles research was only 36 countries:

The criteria for which...seems to have been very random?

But that's why their isn't the real awful countries shown.

These kind of lists are always fun. My favorite are those on say health care, or crime, where they simply take counties like Egypt at its word that they had zero rapes or they add in bogus criteria to make one system look better than another.

Chile has a higher GDP per capita than Russia, Poland, Croatia, and Hungary.

Indeed. Its actually pretty rich, the most developed country in Latin America. It has a higher literacy rate than Spain, and higher GDP per capita than most Eastern european countries.

You always see these comparisions, especially ones that make America look bad, however they're comparing America to other developed nations. Oh, Finns are better educated than Americans? Great. Finland isn't a piss poor country struggling to survive either.

The Chinese tend to bias results with elite Shanghai schools, but in sheer numbers rather than overall national percentages, they're probably more correct.
