The small garrison of Last Lament was a victor's garrison, keeping watch over a conquered city that had been taken from Zalaman not long previously. Word of Jalabhar's defeat had reached the town, and the gates were sealed. The fleet's crew had been pressed into service providing around 600 additional light infantry for the walls.

Julukati's fleet sat offshore, attempting to ensure the foe didn't simply flee out to sea.

Melara took a deep breath as the gates of the city loomed up before the army that was to retake it, an army that included Jeha-- her troops. Jehaine's armor felt heavy and cumbersome compared to the mobility she was used to, but her wearing it was for more than simple protection. The enemy at the walls would see the Order's banners, both the golden tree on green of the Order itself as well as the pennons of its respective regiments. If the Summer Islanders had something similar to the Westerosi ravens, they would report on the army marching for their walls right now, reporting the Order's regiments in full present at Last Lament which would in turn provide an alibi for Jehaine on her spying mission.

Still, that was all good and well, but in the meantime there was a city in front of them whose walls were likely required to be stormed -- with or without Jehaine. She signaled a halt to her troops, and climbed off her horse, doing her best to at least make it appear as if she was as used to wearing thick and heavy plate armor as her Commander. She felt like a lamb being grilled over an open fire, how Jehaine even managed to wear this thing all the time was something that honestly eluded her. After stepping in her tent, the first thing she did was hastily remove the helmet, taking a couple of deep breaths of dry, hot but thankfully fresh air. Soon, other Commanders would be doing the same and call for a strategic meeting, but until then she wanted to rest a bit before going back to pretending to be the Commander again.
