    Default Musket mod for mtw2?

If you Google 'musket mod for MTW2' you will find many posts that request the MTW2 musket sounds for Empire!

I find this incomprehensible as every sole musket sounds like a cannon and the whole regiment firing at the same time sounds like a broadside being fired from a great ship.

I have the General Andy's Musket mod for ETW and I find it much more realistic and I was wondering if they have a similar mod for MTW2 or specifically the awesome 1648 mod?

Is there a way I can have my muskets sound less like 'boom' and more like 'pop' or 'crack'?

You can change the sounds yourself of course.
Just check out the Sounds tutorial section in the Mod Workshop, or look in the Modding Index and you may find what you want.
I made myself a unit that uses late muskets, sounds from YouTube and model based on a Brown Bess musket, and it sounds rather weird, mostly because I couldn't find the perfect sound sample to use.

It is a bit strange wanting those large muskets to sound like a "pop" or "crack" like the later guns (18th century and beyond). The muskets in M2TW are the old type muskets (matchlock mechanism at the time) and they have a much bigger bore than the later guns I think, and the amount of gunpowder put inside was probably usually a lot. As technology advanced, the flintlock became in use, the gunpowder needed was probably less, and the firing sound was probably not loud as the older gunpowder mixture.

If you still want somebody to make a mod, then just say.

    Thanks for the links.

I agree that they most probably didn't sound like later day muskets but I also think that they certainly didn't sound like they currently do now. Perhaps I'm wrong and I may even revert back if it doesn't "feel" right. Maybe just a little less bass to make the sound more 'crisp' would do the trick.

I have long wished to do a video narrative of my mega campaign CK2 - EU4 selecting key battles to play out on the Total War series. One thing that has always prevented me from doing this is my woeful lack of modding skills. I tried to create my own banners so I could have correct county banners and flags in my armies but I got stuck at the conversion and re-conversion of the banner files and also using the paint program itself. So my knowledge and practicality of this kind of thing is poor.

Did you ever play EU3 with the MEIOU mod?

When viewing the battle window the sounds of muskets were awesome and as realistic as I’ve ever heard them. I have tried googling where these sounds came from or even getting a sample of the file but no joy.

I may request a mod in the near future or rather see if there is a demand for it for it as it seems Im quite alone in playing Paradox games in line with the Total War series in order to create a video chronicle so to speak. I don’t even know if it is possible but basically it would revolve around the custom battle mode and give you the ability to have two countries of any time period between 800-1800 battle it out complete with shield, banners, and if possible even different county emblems on individual unit groups. Something like that would be a dream and probably will remain so. I know it’s far beyond my capabilities no matter how many tutorials I read.
