LOTR mods for either RTW or BI

yep theres a couple: theres the mod fourth age:total war which has a demo released and then theres lotr:tw which has a beta and a few addons released but its only for 1.2.Oh and fourth age is for 1.6[i think]

We hope to have FATW out pretty soon, which will mean before M2TW. It will be for BI 1.6 (but our demo is for RTW 1.3/1.5). There are five LotR-related mods in all:

Middle Earth: Total War, Númenor: Total War, The Fourth Age: Total War, The Lord of the Rings: Total War, and War of the Silmarils: Total War.

So far Im really enjoying the non official campaign of Metw + Lotr v.1.1c.
I had it installed a few months ago and when i was to play it, Blue Lotus arrived and for the next months I only devoted to it.
Yesterday I decided to give it another try as Movie edition v3.5 is already avaiable and after the instalation process (Nothing to complicated if following the read me file included on the movie edition main file).
Glad i still keep a clean v1.0 Rtw, a v1.2, a v1.5 and a Bi v1.6 on My Hd (hehehe, lots of space waisted but that way I can have several great mods instaled at once for several versions of game).
And so far so good, playing as elfs I didnt have any cdt (as I used to when playing with them before v3.5).
As the units are answome made and the pace of combat is the one I really enjoyed most (As on Mtw, where any can think before the combat ends, lol, personnaly almost as good as on Darth's mod) I really advise any who wants to have a Lotr campaing to try that combo, Metw+ lotr v1.c + movie edtion.

The movie edition including the inofficial (means not done or supported by Wles) campaign should be at lotr.com.

Hi I was just wondering if there were any links to LOTR mods with playable campaigns to RTW 1.5, as I dont have the BI expansion and probably wont ever.

Metw+lotr+movie edition is for V1.2.
Lotr v2 will be (as far as I understand, hope Im wrong) for Bi + alexandrus addon.
So for v1.5 none so far.

LOTRTW will probably have a version for RTW as well.
but the main one will be for alexander and will NOT require BI.

I installed Lotr-Tw1.1c over a 1.2 Rtw, then added Metw+0.70+beta and the movie edition exe. Last but not least I used the V_3.5_open_and_copy_folder_contents_over rar file. ( I hope everyone knows what I am talking bout)

So here are my questions please.

1) Most of the units use the "barbarian" voices from Vanilla. Is this correct? I saw a "forgondor" mp3 and it worked correctly when i tested the installation of Lotr-Tw1.1c but after installing the unofficial campaign this sound is gone (cannot find it anywhere in the sound-txt files in the data folder either). There are some custom sound files like the Naazgul, orks and oliphants and those play properly so i think it might be an error in the sound reference txt file (maybe someone would be so kind as to tell me which one to edit, there are numerous ones)

2) The cities still look roman/greek etc on the battle map. Is this correct or did I make a mistake with the installation? If this is correct does anybody know if it will be changed in the future? Its a wee bit of a letdown if you lay siege to Minas Morgul and it looks like your average roman town...


Thats pretty much my questions after 1 hour testing of the campaign.

Both of it is correct (in the sense of your game isn´t in any way corrupted or something) and in both cases the reason is the same: workload. To get all the sounds changed properly it would require major recording of unit voices/sounds that hardly any mod team, let alone a loosely associated group like the Movie edition campaign makers could stem. And making cities is a huge workload, and way harder than simply change a couple of unit models, as well, and usually one of the things done last.

If you have RTW Gold it´s automatically patched to 1.5, so 1.2 mods won´t run.

LotR-TW is quite good if you have Alexander, also I and some other guys are working on Tales of Arda for Alexander

For Rome: Total War you only have one option: the RTW version of The Fourth Age: Total War - The New Shadow

For Barbarian Invasion there is Middle-earth: Total War (which is still very much a work in progress), and The Fourth Age: Total War (where you'll need The New Shadow v2.0b + the v2.6 patch, and obtionally: the Music Pack, found in the same thread as TNS v2.0b, and the Wars of Men pack).
