The Search for Answers at the Grassy Vale (Closed RP)

Donnel rode alongside his uncle at the column's head, in front of the massed Hightower cavalry. The sheer number of heavy horse that his uncle had mustered was an impressive sight to behold: as his grandfather favoured infantry over horse, Donnel had not seen such a concentration of knights before.

The Lefford forces rode behind the Hightower ones, with the four hundred knights taking up the very rear of the column, creating a sandwich around the light horse of both houses, who were roughly equal in number. The force wormed its way up the Rose Road, passing through villages and small towns, gathering crowds to watch the passing force of nearly five thousand mounted men.

After a little over a month and a half of hard travel, the Hightower-Lefford host finally arrives at the Reach border Castle of the Grassy Vale. As soon as they had arrived, Ser Rolland Hightower gave orders for an encampment to be erected along the banks of a nearby tributary of the River Mander. While the encampment was being set up, Ser Rolland dispatch other men to requisition more supplies for his men while he and Donnel began to plan their next moves in a hastily erected command tent.

In the tent, a small table was hastily constructed and a map of the area of the Grassy Vale and the nearby borders of the Stormlands and Dorne are displayed on it “We have finally arrived Donnel after a long ride through the heart of the Reach.” He pointed to the position of the Grassy Vale “We are here just slightly to the East of the Grassy Vale. Tomorrow, we can go and speak to Lord Meadows to see if he knows anything about these raiders. Hopefully, he can provide us insight that will lead us to a fruitful result. But if it doesn’t, what do you think that we should do?”

"Speak to villagers along the border, see what they know?" asked Donnel, "If we turn up nothing I see no option but to cross the border in search of answers in the mountains, though."

Despite being told otherwise, Donnel was still in favour of bold incursions. Youthful bravery, perhaps, or his father's calculating nature coming out in the son: the Stormlands wouldn't go to war over bandit hunting. They'd cry foul and quibble about sovereignty and due process, but if the Hightower-Lefford forces came back with bandit heads or satisfaction that Prince's Pass wasn't their lair, any upset they had to endure would be worth it.
