Default changed dimensions of Atachments, remapped, but image in game comes out distorted

I increased the dimensions of the attachments.texture file from 1024x1024 to 2048x1024 in order to have more space.
then i remapped the the equipment with milkshape, but the mapping in game comes out distorted (shields, weapons, equipment)
    any suggestions would be welcomed

    Images would be nice.

As far as I know, 1024x1024 is the size limit and the ONLY size to use for battle model textures for M2TW.
Milkshape maps everything normally, but the game engine doesn't support it. If that wasn't the case, then model textures in M2TW would be 10 times better than those of the newer games (lol). It would be wonderful if the game supported larger texture sizes. Ohhh, think of the high level of detail you could add...

but as far as i know there are texture files used by mods even larger than 2048x1024 such as marka horses or 3rd age textures, warhammer etc

Really?! I haven't tried any mod out, so I don't know. I just got this experience from a time where my textures were 512x512 and I was told that 1024x1024 is the only way to fix it.
If what you are saying is true, then simply double the texture size instead of a 2:1 ratio. 2048x1024 is an awkward dimension ratio, try using 2048x2048 (1:1).

Please tell us if it works, I would love to use larger textures!

I am using 2048x1024 just fine. UV-maps get distorted, but can be easily fixed. Simply select the groups in Milkshape one by one and use Scale at 0.5 and 1.0 in the texture coordinate editor (ctrl + T). The UV-maps will fit back into the textures in the right proportions. If there are problems in the game, while everything's ok in Milkshape, then the .dds file needs to be in the correct format with MIPMAPs enabled before converting to texture file, can't remember which one right now (DXT5 with alpha layers on? or something like that). Other than these few issues there are no problems.

sure i did just that, because i noticed that it was the same in marka horses textures and it works for the textures included in the initial 1024x1024 file

BUT the textures that i added to the extra space (the +1024 in length) after i scaled them, moved outside the image margin and ended up to be mapped in the figure section...

how can i relocate them back to the attachments file?

If i understood you correctly, some of your groups now belong to "figure" material. This is easy to fix. Select these groups by double clicking on them then go to Materials -> select attachments -> assign. Keep in mind that the figure and attachment texture files both have to be of the same size, 2048x1024 in your case. In order for Milkshape and the game to recognize that your texture is 2048x1024 you have to enable Mipmaps when saving your .dds.
