    Default Unit Ownership Error

    Hello!

I recently downloaded Roma Surrectum 2.6, but I wanted to try the faster battle submod, so I downloaded the submod and put the new unit file in the proper campaign folder. However, now whenever I try to start the campaign, I get an error on the opening screen about unit ownership saying that the unit is unavailable for the Roman Rebel Faction. I was trying to play the Rome-1 turn (though the same thing happened when I tried for Rome-0 turn). This didn't happen before the EDU changes (the campaigns without EDU changes work). Any suggestions?

    Thanks so much!

Well, it would help to know what and where that sub-mod came from, and who made it. If it was one of Tone's files, then we are responsible for that. If not, then you need to ask the person who wrote it to fix it.

Otherwise, replace the file with the original one. All of the 'default' files are in the _Important_stuff folder.

I used the one Tone made for 2.6. I tried replacing it with the default, but the problem still persisted (and even still, I would like to be able to use the fast battles mod).

Do you have any suggestions? I'd really love to have the chance to play this mod again.

Ok, can you tell me which unit is causing the error? Or, upload a saved game and tell me which exe you are using? You're not giving me much to go on here.

Sorry, I probably should have mentioned this is the first place.

The error message comes up whenever I try to launch the game. I get to the screen that says "Roma Surrectum II", and then before the opening video plays, the error message pops up and the game closes.

The message says: "Script Error in play_rome_one_turn/data/descr_rebel_factions.text at line 2461, column 21,

The Unit "Latin Medium Cavalry" is not available for the faction Rebels (Apulians). See unit ownership for details."

I was using rome.exe when this happened.

Did the mod work before you adddd the fast battle file?
“The hardest thing in the world is to assume the mood of a warrior. It is of no use to be sad and complain and feel justified in doing so, believing that someone is always doing something to us. Nobody is doing anything to anybody, much less to a warrior.” ― Don Juan

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag." -- Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Ok, the problem isn't with one of our files, it's with some 'tinkering' that went bad. Your 'Play_Rome_One_Turn' folder has somehow gotten the wrong descr_rebel_factions.txt in it. Go into the 'Play_Rome' folder, copy the file from there, and then replace the one in the Rome one turn folder. Problem should be fixed. You should also be able to use the greater lethality file as well that Tone made.

Be very careful copying files from one place to another. These campaigns are all unique, and although they are 'much' the same in many respects, there are subtle (and fatal) differences between them.
