    Default Question about Roman Formations.

    Hey Darth,
How easy/hard is a change like this for the roman formations?

In the default roman starting formation, instead of having the two groups of equites starting out on the left side of the screen, I'd like to have one on the left and one on the right. Because now before I start battles, I manually move one group of equites to the right.

    Thanks.

If the 1 equites is a general will be placed behind. Otherwise it is programmed to cover both flanks according to cavalry unit number and mixture.

Thanks for the answer. I only ever use 3 units of cavalry....1 general and 2 others to cover flanks. When there is only 2 supporting cav, they line up on the left of the screen, they don't cover both flanks. That would probably be a tough change, eh?

Also, one more question about the romans. With premarius, when I have 1 General 2 Equites 5 hastati 5 Pricipes 3 Triarii 2 Javelin and 2 Archers.....only 4 Hastati units line up in the front of the formation, followed by 5 Pricipes units. The other hastati unit is back with the Triarii in the rear.....seems they should all be up front, is this correct?

It is not correct historically but there are certain minimum thresholds I have put to be in the 3-line maniple system so the excess will be put in reserve.
This is not visible after marian reforms but is is vital for the whole formation system AI to preserve it.
