    Logged in as Administrator?
    Disable the UAC?
    Take ownership/control of C: drive?
Run a registry cleaner to get rid of what CA's uninstaller never will?

Right-click the setup.exe and set "Run as Administrator" will help. Or even the autorun.

I've managed to start re-installing by running setup.exe as administrator.
I'll let you know what happens when im done with that.
Thanks for help, its much appreciated.

    No, fortunately.

In the Medival2 icon's Target line, change launcher.exe to medieval2.exe. I've been doingthis since the 1.2 patch was released and just use the desktop icons.

Time to take ownership/control of C: drive.

Maybe time to install the game outside Program files or Program files(x86).

Both issues were an annoyance in Win7 but now is a problem in Win 8 and newer.

I made sure I installed it out of program files this time, I'll take ownership now and let you know how it goes

Will the Kingdoms campaigns even start with their desktop icons?

Kingdoms will get just past the loading the screen and then crash, not getting an error message just a blank box with an exclamation mark

kingdoms.exe or trying to start one of the campaigns? kingdoms.exe is not standalone and needs one of the campaigns or a Kingdoms based mod to work.
