Yeah I've seen them a couple of times.
Go into the battle editor and find out exactly what their called (they should be in the terrain features section)

I don't know, but I'm going to hazard a guess that they are funeral mounds. I thought I read some where that the British used them, so if you were fighting in Britain, then that may explain it.
