Default H: TW - Quick Questions & Answers Thread

Useful & Interesting Topics (Updated December 21th, 2014)
Hyrule: Total War Wiki (A Wiki for Hyrule Total War! This links to the HTW's Wikia, which is outside the TWC boards. The Wiki is more accurate and up to date than the Development subforum here on the TWC board, but be wary of spoilers!)

Hyrule: Total War Installation Guide (A guide to installing Hyrule: Total War, with pictures!)
Community Patches - Hyrule Total War (A thread where you can download the latest bug fixes between official releases.)

General Discussion Thread (A topic for general HTW discussion that does not fit elsewhere!)
Hyrule: Total War - Lore Questions (A more detailed thread dedicated to HTW's lore. Ask away!)

Master Bug Report Compilation (A master guide to all documented bugs for Hyrule: Total War.)

Tedster's Submod & Trait Balancing (A submod for 3.6 that adds additional content into the game!)
[WIP] HTW Real Combat (A balance mod in progress by Apani based Point Blank's RC2.0 Submod for Stainless Steel.)
Hyrule Historia Cinematics by Overmind5000 (A fan remastering of HTW's cinematics.)
Kingdom of the Golden Land Mod (A submod for HTW that features a new faction!)

    * * * * *

This topic is essentially for basic questions regarding Hyrule Total War. Question specifically targeting lore should be asked in the Lore Questions thread while questions regarding installation and technical issues should be done either in the Installation Guide or in the Bug Reports section.

Simply put, this is a thread for simple questions that can be answered relatively quickly by another user. Such examples include but is not limited to, "is 'x' feature implemented yet", "is 'x' in this mod", "how do I 'x'", and so on. The theory is that hopefully most questions will be redirected here instead of clogging up other topics.

So, if you have a question, post here!

    Spoiler for Archived Topics

Freeform Campaign Discussion Thread (This topic has not had activity for some time.)
Hyrule: Total War - Open Beta Feedback (There is no Open Beta in progress, the previous file has been removed.)

Hero Ability Discussion (Summer 2014 Release information regarding Hero Abilities!)
Expansion Pack Thread (Summer 2014 Information about HTW Expansions!)
Bug Fix Patches For HTW 3.6 (Now outdated, these patches attempted to fix bugs present in the July 2014 release of 3.6 as well as implement balance passes.)
SirMark9's Balance Passes - General-Discussion & Feedback (An outdated discussion thread for my attempts at balancing.)

    1. Is it possible to share save files for Hyrule Total War, specifically, freeform campaign saves?

I believe it is. I remember Windrider37 mentioning a hotseat campaign with someone, sending the campaign file back and forth each turn. I haven't tried it myself however, but in theory it should work no problem.

Does anyone know how many of the mercenary heroes are already implemented and where to get then? I Know you can get Malon in Lon lon Ranch, but no idea about the rest.

I got this mod a while back, (like maybe a year or two ago) and I don't have Hyrule Historia. I get the feeling that I'm missing a lot of stuff. I'm downloading HTW parts 1,2,3,4 from Mod DB right now. It says it's version 3.5. Is this all that I need to be up to date or is there more that I'm missing? Thx in advance.

There's nothing else. He had released a small fix after this release, but I guess he has included it into the main relase by now.

Just remember to delete your previous version before installing. If you don't that could cause some issues...

Nice catch. Thanks to both you and Cameron Shutters for pointing that out. I might end up with two headed Gorons or something otherwise!

I'm thinking about starting up another campaign, but first, more questions!

1: After battles where there are options to either Release, Ransom, or Execute, how exactly does each option affect the AI? I would imagine Execute would make them more hostile while Ransom has little to no effect, but I wonder if Releasing captives is actually worth doing. Please note I am also asking the effects, if any, on other AI factions besides the one who lost the battle.

2: In settlements in where more than one religious structure can be built, is it better to focus on just one or build all of them?

3: In settlements where the religion there differs from the player's faction, is it better to destroy existing structures to other religions or keep them? There seems to be no way to build certain structures unless there is already a sizable amount of followers in that settlement already, making religions such as Lesser Deity Worship difficult to covert followers.

4: Once a alliance is created between a player faction and an AI faction, how hard is it to lose said alliance if the player plays aggressively?

Thanks in advance for answering the questions!

    2. Any religion that isn't your own will make settlements unhappy, so it's better to suppress other religions.

    3. If remember Neph's logs correctly, your religion is supposed to spread by itself as well in your possessed settlements.

Do hero and sage units such are Impa or Saria respawn, since they are techically immortal in the game lore?

Not in the Freeform campaign; I'm pretty sure it's permadeath.

That may change over time as heroes aren't all too complete yet.

As I understand the entire world will be slightly more hostile to you each time you execute captives. Releasing has the opposite effect. Ransom does neither. It's meant to simulate the rest of the world viewing you as barbaric or noble. The effect is very small though so you'd have to do it a lot to have any effect.

2: In settlements in where more than one religious structure can be built, is it better to focus on just one or build all of them?
I never build more than one and often times I don't even build one. It depends on how much religious unrest there is.

    No idea.

4: Once a alliance is created between a player faction and an AI faction, how hard is it to lose said alliance if the player plays aggressively?
It depends greatly on the faction in question and the current situation. Some factions are more trustworthy, some are more backstabbing, some are more warmongering, some are more peaceful. In addition your current strength compared to theirs, your other allies, your reputation, their other allies, your enemies, their enemies, and more comes into play.

    3. Regarding this, is often useful to keep it or even upgrade then if they make you able to recruit a priest, even if the building is from another religion the priest will spread yours, after that you can destroy then and begin the conversion. I only tested it playing as Hyrule, but you can probably do it as other factions as long as they have priest. Of course you can always bring your priest from your lands, but doing as I say you will increase the limit and will be able to have more. Sometimes you may want to keep the structures anyway to counter corruption when you canīt or donīt care to convert and your religious unrest is already at or near max.

Edit: Thinking about the second question, I never tried but it may actually be good to build the different religious structures. As long as you counter their influence with a more developed structure of your own (and priest if you have then) you can probably get nice publici order and law bonuses that outshine the little religious unrest you may get. I may try some day, I encourage you to experiment with it as well.

Also remember Priests (so I've heard) never gain any traits, because the campaign is still in beta state, so they are very slow. Anyways, I don't think those happiness boni are worth the candle.

Maybe happiness alone is not worth it, but in settlements with high corruption any law bonus you can get is very nice, especially when they produce a lot of income, there many other structures for that but is still worth a try, you could use then until you can build something else to help with that, after all religious buildings are usually cheaper and less time consuming than other buildings.

I originally posted this in the bug thread, but it's probably more appropriate here.
This may not even be a bug, but there are a few units in the custom battle mode that don't seem to be available in the campaign, like Magnolia Scrubs for the Dekus, Iron Knuckles and Wind Witches for the Gerudo, and Mounted Fire Warriors for the Gorons. Am I just being impatient (Bronze Knuckles seemed to become available at Aidaidorf after a while), or is this actually a bug?

Some of these are intentional (e.g. Vanguards) while others you have to tech up a lot to build and have the right buildings. I'm not experienced enough with any of those units to confirm or disprove what you're saying though.
