CTD at beginning of any battle

As the title suggests, I have been crashing at the start of any battle. I can see some black terrain for a second, then the whole game crashes with an "Unspecified error".

I have UAC turned off, Security Essentials set to ignore the game folder, the whole folder has read-only unchecked.

The game is a disc/retail version with all packs installed.

Please help, as the game has worked in the past!

Please Disregard, i have already figured out my mistake: i forgot to unpack all the files properly (adding the pesky DLLs) and deleting those wonderful descr_geography files!
