Basically, I'm not sure if tiredness is making me stupid, but I don't remember seeing these guys in the game before? Ever? Yet nearly every faction has a reference for them in the land_units table. What are they?![]()

Cheers Mathias, although I was kind of thinking more in Rome II terms!
Its the Scorpion siege engine

The scorpion has it's own entry, or is this the fixed version?
It was in rome 1 as a chariot mounted ballista...
Cheiroballistra are the movable scorpions, scorpion is the fixed version (art_fix/art_fld class in land_units)

Nope, in the units db the 'cheirobalista' is the scorpion. I am quite certain about this having fiddled with it recently (specifically the number of guns per unit column). There is no 'scorpion' unit in the dbs, other then the in game text part which relabels the cheiro unit as scorpion.

In the land_units table, within the first 21 entries you have references to "Afr_Cheiroballistra", "Afr_Scorpion" and "Afr_Scorpion_Bastion". Same for nearly every other faction, thanks to CA uber-balanced approach to giving everyone god-like artillery. Either way, cheers to all! One or the other is the fixed version and movable version. Just check the class. Art_fix = unmovable, Art_fld = moveable

Well, yeah. I suppose I could have done thatAs ever, crzyrndm sets me straight
_Cheiroballistra = Movable Scorpion
_Scorpion = Fixed Scorpion
