I lose my temper when I do a (and who wouldn't be retarded to not do it), combined attack against walls and gates, but when I destroy the gates, the guys who put up the towers and ladders run through the gates that were just destroyed to get to the wall, not the God-forsaken ladders they just put on the wall. Or better yet, when they can't decide which one, and half use the ladder while the other half run through the gate, getting butchered by the enemy as CA has decided that when you disengage your units should commit Seppuku. And don't get me started about how cavalry just freaking DIE when you tell them to disengage for another charge because of combat lock-on crap.
With the new update the game is a lot better and a lot more fun
The new patch has done wonders for my sieges so far, three enemy AI ladders and they used them all, and they split there forces in the city and came from different routes to get at my small defending force instead of all running down the same road.

THE SIEGE AI IS FIXED!
Not fixed yet but improved considerably. In my recent game they did use the towers and scaled the walls but ignored their battering ram. After I neutralized the towers, they all went running to one gate and torched it.
Something has to be done with AI deployment too.
I just had a battle where the gauls attacked Genoa. For some reason my legion deployed on the water instead of the land. so the first thing i do is land everyone on the beach and head into the town. Of course two of the transports couldn't land and spent the next 20 minutes floating through the beach just spinning in circles. So because i had landed on the beach the gaulic army couldn't figure out what to do. they floated around in the shallows with a few ships running into my already empty transports and a whole lot of screwing around. Finally after about 20 minutes i realized they were never gonna land and this "battle" was going nowhere. So i had to concede defeat and wouldn't you know it my entire legion was destroyed because i lost the battle, even though in actuality i hadn't lost anyone really.
So how is this better than having walls and a siege on every city? Whoever thought that combined land sea battles was a good game play feature? IT'S NOT!!!! Its really stupid it doesn't work ever. There's always someone stuck on a boat or some ship that cant land. Let the land battles be land battles. Let the sea battles be sea battles, and let the Cities be sieges with walls!
The reason the legion died was because they starved on their transport ships because their food ran out.
But seriously, in my battles ships always manage to disembark.
never,this game is what we see and will be like this in future.But buy DLCs, it may be that some do a miracle.

Siege AI is a joke still. Most of the time they get stuck on the walls or remain really passive.

Did you look at this video? Or perhaps you posted the wrong one because if this is your understanding of what a fixed Siege AI should look like we have a problem.
Did I just see a unit of Elephants commit suicide at one gate while the rest of the army looked on and while managing to get ladders to a wall and have units climb those ladders may be a great achievement for RTW2 the AI still had to resort to burning the gates.
What you just saw was the exact same behaviour that you would see from units in in ETW, the AI would send a few units with ropes onto the walls and then in a piecemeal fashion come off the wall to try and attack the player with a 100% chance of failure, all we have here is ETW with new clothes and no cannons.
