Modding the length of a pike
Hello all,
My apologies if this has been asked before. Is there a way to change the distance a pike unit can attack from? I haven't been able to find a way to do that yet.

Re: Modding the length of a pike
i think this is not possible. There are few stats in KV_Rules, anyway they dont have any effect on how pike engages. i think the distance is hardcoded with pike thrust animation itself, as it changes wherever unit switches to swords.

Well, that's too bad. Perhaps they'll change some of that when they release modding tools; one can only hope. Thanks anyway!

in the melee_weapons table there is a column which said 'weapon length'. Maybe changing this one will affect the range. I haven't tried it.

Re: Modding the length of a pike
it has no impact at all.. plus, Pikemen have Pike added as the only melee weapon... while sword is only done via animations. which means, their sword has the same length stat as pike due to that value in melee stats...

I tried it and that's right, no effect at all. So actually the pikemen's sword attack stat is identical with the pike, unlike in RTW?

Re: Modding the length of a pike
yup. only thing that is different is animation set. stats are same for both sword and pike. anti-cavalry bonus is added when pike wall ability is enabled. but pike wall ability wont turn off even if pikemen switch to swords due to enemy being close to them, so they practically have sword animation with pike bonuses... sad thing is, that when i asked about this before game was released, and expressed my fear this will be done this way, CA representative told me to not spread false informations... lol and here we are...
