How to edit unit_variants_colours file [solved]
EDIT: Okay now I know what file I need to edit. But notepad++ does not allow me to edit this file, nor does the PFM text editor. So what do I have to use? I googled around and people referred to it as an .xml file but it is most certainly not one.
EDIT2: All of a sudden the PFM works now... weird.

Re: How does the game know to use certain colors for certain units (e.g. Praetorian cloaks are purple, not red/yellow)?
2 ways
1st, you could make the cloak texture purple.
2nd you could assign the Praetorian color to purple.
Someone else will have to explain these more in depth if you need it

Yeah the second one is what I want to do, I assume there is a file somewhere that specifies that a certain variant mesh or model is assigned a certain color for the Praetorians. But I don't know where it is.

Okay, I'm pretty sure it's db/unit_variants_colours_tables/unit_variants_colours. I don't know how to edit it though, the PFM text editor doesn't work and notepad++ gives a bunch of NUL's.
EDIT: Something is wrong with the PFM or something. I remember editing the faction colors table with it a month or so ago and it worked fine. But when I try to open that I get "???$" instead. Same thing with unit_variants_colours. Editing it with notepad++ doesn't work like I said. Nor Excel, nor Word. So help me out here guys, what am I doing wrong?
EDIT2: All of a sudden the PFM works now... weird.
