SS 6.3 won't start, SS 6.4 crashes at start-up

Hi,

As stated in the title, when running the 6.3 after installation a screen pops up saying 'Not enough campaigns or files missing'. I went ahead and installed 6.4 without fixing this problem and after running the setup the game starts, the crusader on the start up screen appears and then the game closes itself immediately.

I have checked the "Guareented Working Install Guide for SS 6.4", several other official guides with bug fixes etc., as well as users' threads and went through all suggestions but my game is still not working.

Extra info:
Running on Windows XP
Installed Americas campaign from Kingdoms expansion pack
Installed SS into the \mods folder in Medieval II
Both Medieval II and Kingdoms are non-steam, and not installed in Program Files
Downloaded all SS content from this forum

• SS 6.3 contains five (5) BIN files and the installation patcher ver 2.5
• mods\SS6.3 folder is 41.5MB after installation

I am very eager to play this game, so any replies are greatly appreciated!

Well, it seems to me that there can only exist two possible problems: either your download of SS6.3 (or 6.4 patch) is corrupt, or your Kingdoms installation has the some problem. So, if I was your place, I would uninstall Kingdoms and delete all SS diles, redownload both SS and reinstall Kingdoms followed by SS. This should correct the screen saying 'Not enough campaigns or files missing'. Also, when reinstalling SS, make sure your UAC is disabled, select exe file, right click and run as admin (Navajo Joe's instructions). Hope this helps you.

It's also generally recommended to install M2TW anywhere but on the system plate...
