    Default uh oh....(eek!)

    Hello all,

I've run into a bit of a problem, one which has scared me to say the least. About 10 minutes ago, I was going to do a little overclock on my processor, for the first time in a few months. I set it in the Bios to OC about 10% (Looking back, that looks way to big for a first time in awhile). .... also, very unintelligently on my part, i set the Ram timings a bit lower. Now, the computer wont start up, even to the bios.

When I turn it on, it makes 1 long beep, and two short ones....

i'm scared... what should i do?

Just reseat the CMOS battery to reset your BIOS. Pull the battery out, wait for about 30 seconds, then put it back in. If you got the motherboard's manual it should give you the instructions and the location of the battery, but usually you should be able to see the battery pretty easily on the motherboard.

On some mobo's you can also use a jumper to reset your BIOS.
This process is (sligtly) easier than removing the battery.

...but removing the batery should work equally well.

Your motherboard manual will tell you what the beeps mean. Consult it.

As Erik says a reset button or jumper setting is the most common and easiest reset of your BIOS to default settings.

Yank out the battery, always works a charm. Finding the jumper, is too much of a hassle.

If that doesn't work, run around the computer frantically screaming abuse, at "It". Or make a sacrifice to appease the gods. :tooth:

Yes appease the gods at all cost, plus if you sacrifice to the gods now you could possible upgrade. :tooth:
