Definitely not enough babies in Rome - Total War. The demographics are very strange. How are births, deaths and marriages triggered?

It's all hardcoded, apart from the fact you can make traits to improve a persons fertility, but thats about it, i think the game works out the rate based on the size of your empire and how many family members you have.

Well, you won't have babies if the guy is always in the field. Leave him for a couple of rounds in a city. Getting the traits and ancillaries for fertility helps obviously as well.Originally Posted by Lusted

Obviously the programmers want to take another look at demographics. The rates of births, marriages and deaths should be based on reality not an arbitrary in-game situation.
There should be lots of births and lots of child deaths. Lots of marriages and lots of divorces. And plenty of hanky-panky with "spare" children with a lust for revenge and power.
And what about "dynastic marriages"?
How does one go after the existing "fertility traits" anyway?
