Byzantine empire versus crusades
So, I'm playing the Byzantine Empire because I love to rebuild the Roman Empire (I really enjoyed Rome Total War). I defeated Venice after they started a war with me. But by conquering Venice, the Popr got mad at me. He declared war at me and in no time I conquered Rome. There never came a crusade although the christian nations are furious. Is it possible that there cannot be launched any crusade on the BE?
Just another question:is it possible for orthodox nations (BE, Russia) to call a crusade?

Re: Byzantine empire veris crusades
No, and no
Christian nations can't call a crusade against orthodox nations. Even if you hold Jerusalem they can't send a crusading army. Jihads can be called against any of non-muslim factions.
You can't create crusades as the orthodox, one of the downsides of the orthodox nations.

Remember that even thou crusades can't be called against you, crusading armies can attack your settlements and armies.

Re: Byzantine empire versus crusades
Actually a crusade against the Byzantines is possible, just less likely to be accepted.

Re: Byzantine empire versus crusades
Maybe in some kind of mod? Byzantium settlements never show up in the crusade targets list.

Re: Byzantine empire versus crusades
No, a crusade against Orthodox is not possible. This is hard coded.
So orthodox cities will never show up on the crusades target list, regardless of papal relations or any other factors.
