Actualy the Byz are pretty weak, by the start of the campaign they have lost most of their empire and if MTW1 was anything to go by... they should get consumed by the turks or get crushed by the crusade armies...Originally Posted by Matty_P
Or the mongols when they show up.... that was a hard campaign as byz... defending against thousands and thousands of heavy calv with very few anti horse infantry.
As for strong: England, france, spain, HrE...
Don't you like letting the AI build nicely, so you get a decent more epic game, from what I have read rolling every faction, Blitzkrieg style will be harder, partic if you can't recruit many Norman Knights together, because of the new recruitment pool.Originally Posted by SnArF|D
I think it will be the same as MTW 1.
I do really hope though that the campaigns are not so heavily sccripted as they were in RTW so that at least from campaign to campaign different factions will rise to prominence. Because then I would actually be inspired to play as all the different factions.

the english would be one of the strongest factions
hey a quick Q
would the scottish armoured longbowmen be more powerful than the english longbowmen?
If you're talking about those "elite" bowmen suppose to be the kings guard, it answers itself
Well, at the time period the Holy Roman Empire was one of the strongest powers in Europe, so I'd guess they will be a strong faction. The English will have the Scots to deal with this time around, so they should be a bit weaker. The Byzantines should be weaker, as by the 11th century the Islamic world had overrun much of their former territory. The Islamic factions, particularly the Turks, should be fairly strong as well I'd imagine.

Hmm thats true if the Catholic factions all band together for most of the game then they would be hard to defeat.
Individual factoin wise though, i would say HRE for the toughest to beat.
"Well, at the time period the Holy Roman Empire was one of the strongest powers in Europe"
the problem it's the Holy Roman Empire was more akin to a confederation of sovereign states than a state in and of itself.
the Holy Roman Empire was "neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire." Voltaire
Légion étrangère : « Honneur et Fidélité »
Yes, it was a confederation, and I do completely agree with Voltaire, but I'm presuming that it will be portrayed much as it was in MTW I, a unitarian state. With one single power controlling all the regions the Holy Roman Empire held at the time, they should be fairly powerful, although they would have many borders to protect against invasion.Originally Posted by Darsh

Cause i be playing turks, so turks will be VERY HARD TO DEFEAT![]()
Interesting question. but I think what is going to be especially good about the game is that it will be a good mix. e.g. in the late period the Byz. empire is going to be severaly weakened by the fact that they have no gunpowder units. Basically, a new unit can turn the tide of the war so what im saying is that different factions will be dominant at different times in the game. I think though that Engalnd and France will probably be the strongest as they can support and field large proffessional armies.
This is about the AI not the "player"
I hope that since there are more smaller factions this time around that every game will not be almost the same AI wise. The starting factions, except venice, will all be very powerful and the turks.
Hard to say, and we need to take in consideration, for example, how early/late in the game are we talking about. I'm sure some factions will have mediocre units available in early ages, but will become true powerhouses in later times.
I think the five available factions at the start will be strong and worthy opponents.
Let me see. Ok this is what I thin.
Strong: France, HRE (exept if CA treats it as it really was and makes revolts in its provinces frequent), Turks and the Papal state (it will reaper after time when conquered)
Weak: Poland (I heared that it was hard to play as Poland in MTW1) and Byzantium (the game begins just after the battle of Manzikert where the Turks chrushed the Byzantium army and their lack of gunpowder units in the later campanig).
