Default How to reduce the max units in a battle from 40 to something lower?

I am just wondering if this is possible at all? When I have say a full stack army reinforcing another, the option is given to have a large battle, or have the reinforcing army show up as reinforcements as in Rome 1 where they replace units that route/get destroyed. However, there is no option to make the AI abide by the same rule. I.e. when my 20 stack army is attacked by two 20 stack AI armies, I'm facing 40 units. With my own 20 units this is something my pc does not handle especially in sieges unless I tone down graphics to the point where I could be playing Rome I. So, any pointers?
Aeimnestus was a Spartan, famous because he killed the Persian General Mardonius at the battle of Plataea.

I would like to know that aswell, not due to performance issues but it would be ncie to be able to cotnrol how many armies Ai gets, honestly i dont know why when i choose i dont want to have huge armies Ai gets them anyway, only me not. If its possible to change this, i would like to know where.
