Default Dragonstone, seat of Lord Maelys Targaryen

    -HOUSE TARGARYEN OF DRAGONSTONE-

Dragonstone is the name of the island located at the entrance to Blackwater Bay and the castle thereon, which was shaped from stone to look like dragons. Dragonstone was the original seat of House Targaryen in Westeros, which they had colonized and fortified as the westernmost outpost of the Valyrian Freehold.

    Main locations in the castle:

-The Stone Drum is the central keep of Dragonstone, named as such because of the booming sound made by the powerful winds during storms. Cells in the dungeons beneath the citadel are warmer than they ought to be, but as dank as one might expect for an isle such as Dragonstone. It is said that there are shafts and secret stairs leading further below into the heart of the Dragonmont. The Stone Drum is connected to the dungeon tower by a high stone bridge that arches over emptiness.

-The Chamber of the Painted Table, located on the top floor of the Stone Drum, is a round room, with four tall windows, overlooking the north, south, east and west. It holds a large table, carved and painted in the form of a detailed map of Westeros. Here, Aegon the Conqueror planned for the invasion of Westeros. The Painted Table is more than fifty feet long: roughly twenty-five feet wide at its widest point and four feet at its thinnest. At the precise location of Dragonstone is a raised seat that allows the occupant to view the entire map.

-The Great Hall is carved in the shape of a huge dragon lying on its belly; its doors are set in the mouth and those entering pass through its mouth. The kitchens resemble a curled up dragon where the smoke and heat vented through its nostrils.

-Aegon's Garden is a garden near the arch of the Dragon's Tail. Within its confines grow tall trees on every side, as well as wild roses. Cranberries grow in a boggy spot. Aegon's Garden has a pleasant pine scent.

-The Windwyrm is one of the towers of Dragonstone. It is shaped like a dragon and arches into the sky, screaming defiantly.

Aegon the Unworthy, was on one of his occasional trips around the country, both to establish his authority and to taste local women, when he had to take refuge, under a heavy storm, near Oldtown, in Three Towers. As usual, a resigned father had to suffer how the King bed with his only daughter, Alicent Costayne. However the child born from that union proved to be worthy of both his grand-father and royal father affections, being not only a good jouster and warrior but a skilled bard, and poet, inherited from the many generations of the singing Costayne.

Maelys went along Aegon to King’s Landing at young age, and since he was one of the closest to his heart, being one of the known as Great Bastards. Not as bitter or harsh as some of his siblings he was a fine courtier, used to the courtly schemes and way of life. He inherited the light brown hair from his mother, and the purple Targaryen eyes, with a chiseled, statuesque, face, and a well-trimmed beard.
His personal shield shows a yellow Dragon holding a globet in a field of black flowers, and breathing red-fire. A mix of his parents heraldry.

After Blackfyre's defeat he scaped with him to Essos, where he was fundamental in carving an army for the King, with his own troops and sworn swords. After seven hard years in exile the Black Dragon returned to claim his Crown. With Daemon in the Iron Throne Maelys was rewarded for his services with Dragonstone as a Lordship that his sons and descendants would enjoy forever. Being born as a bastard and landless now being a Lord on his own (awarded with the Targaryen's own ancestral seat) fills his heart with joy. He is more devoted to the Blackfyre than he ever was, ready to give his life for Daemon, or his twin sons, his nephews, with whom he shares a deep frienship.
However is secret desire is to sit in the Small Council, even more, to be someday, the Hand of the King.

    LADY ALYS HIGHTOWER:
    Born 183 AL

She is the youngest daughter and youngest child of Lord Edric Hightower. She is said to be the fairest of the Hightower daughters and her father is very protective of her. She has just married Lord Maelys Targaryen of Dragonstone, in the Starry Sept of Oldtown. They both have a child, a baby boy, named Jaecaerys, who has inherited the dazzling beauty of her mother and the valyrian features of his father.

    CHILDREN:

Jacaerys Targaryen (born 204 AL): This child has inherited the beauty of his mother and the Valyrian features of his father.
Gaemon Targaryen (born 206 AL): A lovely child, living image of his mother, blonde with striking blue eyes.
Alicent Targaryen (born 207 AL): A fair little girl, with blond, golden, hair, and beautiful purple eyes.

    Others:

-Maegor Waters (born 204 AL): A bastard of Aemon Blackfyre and one of his mistresses, he is a twisted, monstrous child, with a vestigial twin on his neck, he is said to be the Gods' curse upon the usurpers of the Throne. Sent to Dragonstone by Blackfyre, and ignored by his father, Maelys, his half-great uncle, nurtures him behind the secrecy of Dragonstone's walls, willing to use him for his own porpouses. He's an unusually strong toddler, even with his deformity, and has a robust health; he will surely grow into a monstrous but powerful man.

She's guided through the long climb to the fortress from the village below, the she enter through the gatehouse, a dragon's mouth, to the courtyard. From one of the gates appears Lord Maelys Targaryen, dresses with the colours of flames, red and yellow. He is escorted by his guardsmen, wearing Dragon helms and black mail, wearing tabards with the Lord's heraldry.

    "My Lady Blackwood"

He bows slightly, while staring at her with his liliac eyes.

"Hope everything is well at Raventree Hall, you come to acept in person the trade between both our Houses?"

She laughed. Was everything well how could everything be well. Her husband was off to the wall and there was nothing she could do.
"Yes," she said trying not to let the her distress show on her face but doing so unsuccessfully.

He leads her through hallways, corridors and steps to the Drum Tower, to the chambers above the Painted Table Room. He sits behind the desk and offers her a quill and a contract where all that lacks is a signature, hers.

"Look at her, Lothar! Isn't she a beauty? Dragonstone, the seat of Aegon the Conqueror, Lord of Dragons and King of Westeros! It is truly a magnificent fortress, even our beloved Pentos would jealously glare at her."

"Maybe so, master, but what are we doing here again? It is no major port like King's Landing, the seat of kings, or Oldtown, where they at least have a temple for the Lord of Light."

Quellon looked back at his assistant. Lothar was in his thirties, with long hair dyed in purple and a mustache in a radiant green. The man had served under his father since he was fifteen, but had decided to follow Quellon on his journey west. He was eager to help his young master on his quest in Westeros, but also protect him as his bodyguard. Lothar had a Dothraki arakh stuck in his belt, ready to draw it at any sight of danger. The young merchant laughed and looked up with impressed eyes at the stone dragons of the keep.

"My dear Lothar, everything is always so serious with you. Relax, we are on our way to the great ports of the Seven Kingdoms, we are just taking a detour to pay our respects to the great House of Valyria that conquered this barbarian land. I have heard that it is held by the heir of the king, so we might find ourselves some valuable contacts before setting up our business."

The older Pentoshi eased up a little when his master spoke of contacts and business. It seemed to be one of the few things that interested the man, apart from wine and his young master's safety. Well, promises of gold motivates all men, Quellon thought to himself.

They soon anchored at the small harbor on the island, hauling up the green sail and stretching themselves when they once more stood on dry land. Quellon shivered. If there was something he didn't look forward to, it had to be the cold of this strange land. Pentos and the other Free Cities he had visited were warm and pleasant, not like the chilling temperature that he felt right now. He looked at Lothar who didn't bat an eye at the cold, so Quellon tried to strengthen himself in front of his crew. They had brought many valuable accessories with them; silk, spices, jewels, gold, dyes and exotic fruits among others. If they were to meet a prince, it was best to make a good first impression on such powerful and influential man.

Quellon looked around to see if anyone had come to greet them, but all he saw were fishermen and one or two old guards minding their own business. He felt a bit offended by this treatment but reminded himself of his low standing in the eyes of these powerful lords. He would patiently wait for someone to come, or leave if no one came at all.

A customs officer, with small spectacles, arrives, with two guardsmen, with the Lord's heraldry, a yellow dragon in black field. The officer has two aids, carrying a portable desk, ink and quills.

"Merchants! What have brought you here?"

Surprisingly, the officer has a strong physique, and a scar crosses his face. He looks like a hardened veteran and not like bureaucrat. He has a moustache, dyed golden, and a myrish stylet on the belt. He notices the green moustache of one of the merchants

    "Pentoshi?"

They looked at the man that had met them. Quellon smiled greatly at the man's appearance. No man from Westeros he had ever met dressed in the fashion of the Free Cities. He answered the customs officer in bastard Valyrian.

"We are indeed from Pentos, the greatest city ever built and ever will be. If you can recognize a man from Pentos, you must surely be from across the Narrow Sea as well, am I right? Myrish, from the looks of it. What brought you here to the barbarian and cold lands of Westeros? We are here to give our respects to House Targaryen, the dynasty of Aegon the Conqueror, Lord of Dragons, Subjugator of Westeros and the Last of the Valyrian Freehold, before sailing to the main land and starting our trading business. We had planned to present the Lord of Dragonstone with gifts, if his great and majestic prince allowed us to, and an audience with his glorious highness."

He answers in the same language, with a myrish accent, with influence of pentoshi.

"At least that is what your cheesemakers and magisters say! But indeed Pentos is a glorious city, far better that the filthy towns here. I spent seven years in your homeland, merchant, and were great years those..."

    The man chuckles

"Yes, I'm myrish, but we can only be proud of being good glassmakers and weavers..."

Laughs again, a mercenary to the core.

"I ended in these barbarian lands following my captains, I was at Blackfyre's Company, under Maelys Targaryen command, who is now the lord of that place"

Points to the fortress, with the Dragons staring fiercefully the morning sky.

"You will find a Dragon there indeed, he's the brother of King Daemon, but a Targaryen, another son of Aegon the Unworthy, that who seemingly didn't left untouched a maid in the Kingdoms!"

"Forgive me if I'm not a diplomat, merchant, my Lord is far more experienced in that"

Talks to the guardsman, in Westerosi

"Guide this man to the fortress, he shall be received by Lord Maelys as soon as posible"

His father had told him about the Blackfyre Rebellion when he was but a child, but the memories were stuck in his mind. Daemon Blackfyre and his army had come to Pentos at several times, selling their swords for the gold of the magisters and the prince. If Quellon hadn't been determined in his future life he would have bought his own arms and had joined the black dragon, that was the kind of aura that Daemon had emitted, a king by birthright. Now he was king, rumors said without fighting a single battle on his way to the Iron Throne. That was certainly one for the songs.

"You have certainly come a long way, from Myrish sellsword to Westerosi bureaucrat. Not bad for a glassmaker and weaver, now the cheesemaker willl meet a prince of Valyrian blood. Life is full of surprises, just the way I like it. Take care of yourself, Myrish, may the Lord of Light guide you through the night."

Quellon waved at Lothar and his crew to follow him up the hills to the vast castle where the stone dragons watched over the sea with their dead eyes. It gave him a different kind of chill, but also excitement. What kind of man was this Maelys Targaryen? Most likely he was like Blackfyre he had seen years ago, majestic and proud, with the aura of a king.

    The mercenary laughs

"Yes, but I always had a keen eye for coins, merchant, and Lord Maelys is grateful, and kind. Life is full of surprises, as Night is full of terrors. Shall He light your Way, Pentoshi"

And he uncovers his wrist, where he had a tattooed fiery heart.

"These men will lead you to the fortress"

The guardsmen then start the lenghty walk uphill, until they arrive to the magnificent and impresive gatehouse, carved as a dragon mouth. The portocullis was raised, and more guardsman, with the yellow dragon on black field, were lined at both sides of the entrance. Above their heads, the fierce sigil of the Targaryen, with his breathing fire beast.
The guardsmen speak with, clearly, the Captain of the Guard, who wore full steel armour, and that seemingly was a retainer of the fortress' Lord. Then he turns to the merchant:

"You may enter, these men will led you to the Aegon's garden, right there Lord Maelys will speak with you, merchant"

He's led through few courtyards, until he arrives to the garden, where Maelys was sit, under a pine, sorrounded with wild roses. He was writing something on a parchment scroll, using a portable desk, in carved ebony. He rises his gaze, liliac, with his nearly auburn hair falling down in waves to his shoulders.

ooc: Do want to see Maelys, Daemon Blackfyre's brother? Or Matarys, Baelor's son? If it is Matarys, go to Stonedance thread. If it's Maelys:

A guardsmen asks harshly who dares to appear at the gates by midnight, willing to disturb his Lord's rest.
