New World map info... and another faction?

I noticed some things from these screenshots:

(These screenshots were most probably taken in the same turn)

If you look at the mini-map in the bottom left corner, it shows parts of the New World that are 'known' and then other blank spaces.

1. Where do you think the player would be getting this map information from? It cant be that the player has been there himself, because there are still unknown areas in front of these known bits.
2. Which faction has occupied the top bit of land (red) ? It cant be the player's faction, England (same reason from above). Perhaps.. Just maybe.. This is another faction all together. :hmmm:

What do you guys think?

Meh, looks like England to me. Red with yellow border...england. Unless that is really Narnia, in which case I am not buying this game.

Nah, it's the Isle of Avalon. England already owns it at the start of the game. :wink:

But seriously, it looks like England has taken North America. I guess in that game either England didn't do much for a long time, or a someone opened the America's early in the game for something like bug testing. The devs may leave us a way to enable the Americas to be open at the start of the game.

My assumption about this is that the provnces were alrwayd occupied, (like england was scripted to own this from the begging) just to use as a demo of what it was like.

Brothel: Your units receive +1 before any fighting. If troops are kept in the city for more than 1 round then all troops receive -50 bonus points and +1 STD (reduces army 40 units per turn).
That's not in-game though. Yet.

Its a sample map to show you the real world.

England owns that bit cos the guy conquered it to show press the aztecs, and theres black bits cos its a press build.

Still, I wonder.. In the proper game, where would the player get the map info from? Maybe if you're allied with, lets say, Spain, then they will show their new world 'explorations' if you get their map information in diplomacy. Maybe... just a thought. :hmmm:

In terms of which faction that is, I would think that these screens were taken from a version of the game that might have included more American factions. One thing to notice is that these screens dont have a turn count on the right, so this version was not the same as the BETA one.

I think it might be like one of those "events" in Rome (ie. marius reforms), that if you get enough technology or a certain number of turns have passed, the map info is given to you and you can journey to the americas
