Rome deserves to be voted among worst of the year. The game is a 5/10; 6/10 at most. It seems that pcgamer doesnt care much about gamers.

I'd vote X-Com: Enemy Unknown. Mixing old and new with brilliant gameplay.
That game got me completely addicted until I could finish it on the hardest difficulty.

What dimension are you guys living in? Of course Rome II should be on that list and why aren't you guys happy about that!? We want total war to do well, get your priorities straight.
[HUMOUR]Obviously, not in the same dimension as yours[/HUMOUR]
In the dimension where I live, TW:R2 is a boring game, where BAI is unable to wage siege without the horrible torches and battle are nothing more than massive "blobs" of units.
Campaign is not that much better, even restricting the number of armies, due to the system 1 army = 1 general, CAi is still spamming stacks, armies can be transformed into instant fleets able to destroy real fleets, etc.
And I will not speak about performance issues at le launch of the game and the 8 patches thant are not enough to fix most problems...
A list of flaws longer than a wich list to Santa
On the other hand, EUIV is not on the PC Gamer list when this game offers a very good campaign, excellent diplomatie and great immersion.
And even if this game is considered as a "niche" one, this would not justify why it is not on the list and TW:R2 is... of course, if PC gamers considers quality.

The Monetary wroteHave you invested in a lot of shares in Sega or something? Otherwise it's hard to understand why, no matter what half-hearted rubbish they churn out, without even beta-testing it, you want everyone to praise them to the skies. You seriously want us to praise a game that is worse than Rome 1 and not even beta tested? What dimension are you guys living in? Of course Rome II should be on that list and why aren't you guys happy about that!? We want total war to do well, get your priorities straight.

Worst game f the year probably. Maybe you can spend some money to get into this list. Since CA obiously did not spend much money on Rome 2 (look at those shameful AI, UI, Unit cards, graphics, content...) though they had a lot more budget... who knows where all the money was invested,...
For me with Rome 2 the TW series died a cruel death.
This doesn't surprise me at all considering how often this site features total war ads and how often they mention the games in surprisingly unbiased and straightforward articles. Obviously some mutual interests going on here. All I can say is good for them, I hope they win. At least then they can stop using 20 e3 nominations in the ads and start saying "nominated for game of the year once" as the focus point.
I thought this was TWCenter? Short for Total war center, i was under the impression that it was a fansite dedicated to total war fans. So what is strange about me as a total war fan hoping CA does well so they can continue to make new and better total wars in the future?
You guys have mods and 8 patches be satisfied with so stop living in the past. You guys are so clueless that many of you can't even remember(or know) that Rome 1 was a buggy glitchy mess and that was such a smaller and simpler game to make and test.
Take a breath and consider migrating to some paradox hipster forum instead, so the more grounded people won't have to be clogged up by all of these hater threads that has been going on for almost 4 months. I'm a critic i'm displeased by a lot of stuff but i don't have the biased tunnel vision. Get some perspective and consider the good things that Rome II brought with the bad and the improvements and effort being made since release.

Liking cheese does not mean that you have to like a bag of sour milk if someone puts it in a box labelled 'cheese' and sells it to you claiming it's cheese.
Rome 1 did not have the horrendous design decisions that Rome II has leading to campaigns that aren't worth playing. Rome 2 doesn't even have the troops fighting in formation in battle or the soldiers able to use siege towers, ladders and rams properly that Rome 1 had - and its meant to be Rome II - it's meant to make Rome I obsolete. Yes it had lots of bugs at release, but it had been beta tested and so didn't have the terrible, terrible design decisions in it that Rome II has. And worst of all its not even modable to the extent that Rome 1 was.
"Paradox hipster forum". lol
I really hope that man can be a fan and still keep a working brain.
CA/Sega and theirs products are not exempt of critics, particularly when critics are supported with relevant arguments.
And thread about TW:R2 flaws are many on this forum...
Maybe should you ask yourselves why so many people are, what you're calling "haters" (something quite pejorative, in the same way as calling other kinds of peoples "fanboys"), and what I would call "angry customers" and "disappointed players".
But, maybe, are you living in an other dimension where TW:R2 has been a new success for CA, with great campaign and battle gameplay, working features and highly immersersive game.
First place for "most shameless marketing propaganda of the year" would be more appropriate really.![]()
I hope it wins.
The butthurt would be delicious.

Of course it will win. PC Gamer is the lowest of the low, the perfect award environment for Rome 2. They actually hinted that there will be multiple awards, most likely so that they can kiss multiple buttocks at the same time, you know the ones that feed them with advertisement revenues.
Oh come on, it is not like they had so many choices for top ten nowadays. Many companies makegames to appease the masses and make loads of cash. PC Gamer's choice lies in the fact that they had a top 10 list with only 9 games so, considering what a franchise TW is they thought,
it, why not?
Seriously? Do you know what bugs are? Let me give you a hint: It does not matter what pc you have.

RTWRM - back to basics
PC Gamer is a major magazine so they are highly dependant to not upset a major player in the entertainment industry and how could they not put Rome 2 on the list after the rigged previews and all these E3 awards and nominations granted on footage which does not represent actual gameplay and promises that this and that will be fixed before release. So there was no way to not nominate TW:R2 as GOY without confirming that the premature praise was based on false avertising and false previews...the entire occurences around the prerelease campaign, the actual quality of the released game and quality after 8 patches and now finally the nomination show clearly how utterly corrputed the system really is.
