Default Using DeI with Caesar in Gaul Campaign

If you want to try out DeI with CiG campaign, simply delete the /campaigns/main_gaul/startpos.esf in the current DeI version. You won't have starting units at their proper sizes, but it should allow you to load up the campaign.

    EDIT (Selea):

The CiG startpos has been fixed in 0.6a. I personally tested Rome and Averni with it and it works fine. If users still experience problems write them in this post, thanks, elsewhere the mod already works with CiG without having to do anything (actually DON'T remove the CiG startpos or you will not have updated sizes for troops).

Once again, you save me. It's so good to have a real campaign map with seasons and without armys standing with their feet in the water. But those vanilla battles are just absurd !

EDIT : I'm just concerned I just have a /campaigns/main_rome/startpos.esf in my current DeI version but nothing like /campaigns/main_gaul/startpos.esf !?

Re-EDIT : I dlded the non-steam version of DeI and there is a /campaigns/main_gaul/startpos.esf in it. So I supose you guys already supressed DeI's Gaul startpos in the steam version.

    Why?

The startpos should be fixed for CiG.

I tested it personally with Rome and it works. There are some factions with which it doesn't work?

When I tried to play CiG with the steam version (last update) it didn't work and yet there was no /campaigns/main_gaul/startpos.esf in it. At least, this is what I noticed when I opened PFM to do as Dresden advised, : the /campaigns/main_gaul/startpos.esf was already not there.
What happened when I launched the game : it remained stuck on the loading screen for 10 mn and then CTD.

Then I dwnlded the non-steam version on TWC and erased the /campaigns/main_gaul/startpos.esf in PFM. Everything worked fine and I could start a Roman campaign with big head Caesar.

Im so happy to start a CiG campaign with DeI !!!

The Steam Workshop version is still NOT updated for patch 8.

For this it didn't work, the startpos has nothing to do with it.

Again, you don't need to delete the startpos, it is already updated and fixed (from version 0.6a) to work with CiG campaign.

If you remove it you will not have correct unit sizes at the start.

Looks great, can you give us a heads up when the steam version is up and ready for CiG? Or would that happen on Steam's timetable

    Wow, great news !
Already finished one Averni campagne on CiG because I couldn't wait. It felt so wrong without the mod installed but I didn't had a choice.
Now I'm gonna enjoy DeI with the Romans. Thank you Selea!

Since we are on the topic, is this DLC worth getting? I would definitely be using DEI with it, I'm just apprehensive about shelling out more dough to CA at this point.

If you liked the prologue of the game with a limited map, faster AI-loading times and scripts you will like CiG as well.
I enjoyed it pretty much because there was more flow of the game and you were more with your troops. The seasons are decent as well

Seasons are bringing back many strategic elements ! As the Romans I was saved by seasons ! On VH I made the huge mistake to subjugate the Helvetii instead of occupying Octoduron, Caesar's army turned its back on it and rushed to bring order to Provincia. But as soon as I leaved their territory, Hevetii allied to their Tulingi neighbours and declared war on me. It was at the beginning of the game and Cisalpine Gaul was just protected by the young Marcus Antionus and a few unexperimented troops. From the very eastern foot of the Alps a huge Tulingi army was crossing the forest to sweep down on Mehdlan !
Ceaesar rushed to Octoduron and on the way he fell in an ambush by the Helvetii. Could prevail but had to siege Octoduron with a depleted army when the Helvetii, on the other hand had recruited elite troops. The plan was to conquer it and run to help Marcus Antonius to defend Mehdlan but soon I realised time would be too short.
Then, winter fell on the Alps and the Turingi's army had to turn back. Attrition in the moutain and in the winter is dreadfull when you are not on a road and they would have loose more than half of their army before reaching Mehldan.

ANother very good thing is that there is no more transport troops problems and the CAI seems far better than in the Grand campaign. In my opinion the two things are linked and amphibious troops was what made CAI act dumb but some might disagree.

The only problem and it's a huge one, are the battles. Without DeI those battles are just absurd. Far too quick and they look horrible.

Looking to start a new CiG game with this mod. Is the Steam workshop version up and compatible with CiG?
