whats more interesting is that its scotland making england a vassal lol
Hope, unlike RTW, in MTW2, this will work. It was useless: you become protectorate, and very often, that very turn, they were attacking you again.
And btw, I can't see anything close to "Transgression" option for the player. That's gonna suck in a big way, if they didn't change AI behavoir. But that's another story...
Yes it's a same thing, but we will see is it working on the same way as in RomeOriginally Posted by selenius4tsd

lol become protectorat was really silly thing in RTW.... AI never accepted it lol

Ya that was the second stupidest thing in RTW diplomacy.lol become protectorat was really silly thing in RTW.... AI never accepted it lol
No, it was cool. I was close to creating the "celtic alliance".
This time I will make the "Sovjet "alliance"".![]()
Good that it's in. I've never had protectorate in Rome though. Once I had beaten the gauls, and they had one city and two units left, I tried to get them to be my protectorate. They refused my offer, naturally. I surrounded the town with 5 full armies and there were only ~100 gauls left, so I kindly asked again. They refused, and the next turn they asked if I wanted to become their protectorate.![]()
So I hope it works better in M2. If AI:s situation is hopeless, it should be easy to make a vassalage. We'll see then...

I really hope AI is configured to be survivalist as afaction and break refuse vassalage if there is at least some mathematical chance or whatever...

whats the difference between vassal/protectorate and a regular ally?
When another faction becomes your protectorate/vassal, they will, apart from becoming your ally, also pay a certain amount of money ("tribute") per turn to you, plus you will get military access/trade rights. In return, you are supposed to 'protect' them.. although in my experience you could do what you wanted to them!![]()
When you are just a regular ally, you dont get any military access/money tribute from them.
Hope this helped!
That money tribute is usually a phat 10k per turn
sorry to be off the topic a little bit, but what does a protectorate do? (i have never played RTW)
^^Aztec, look two posts up from yours to find the answer to your question...![]()

so basically, there is no point to becoming a protectorate because
a) you're losing money every turn
b) and your ally isn't required to help you
and people wonder why the AI never does this?
if all the civilizations were humans, nobody would ever become a protectorate because theyd rather pump their money into troops to fight invaders themselves.
and when you tell the other player to go away cos you dont like his "pointless" offer.... he marches his army into your last town and hangs you.Originally Posted by thomonkey
Yip... thats a great alternative.
better than giving them all your money, just for them to hang you anyways, or some other enemy to come in to hang you while your protector invests your money into his own infrastructure.
there needs to be a feature that you wont get paid as a protecturate until you win some battles against their enemies in their lands.
maybe it could be made into a mission, where the mission is defeat x number of armies in the protecturate's territory.

2 choices:
Become a protectorate: yes your severely handicaped, but your alive and you at least have a small chance at redeeming yourself.
Refuse to become a protectorate: watch your empire get erased and then get hanged.

I hope it's possible. and i also hope that if it is implemented you're vassal will totally rely on you for military production.
it would be wonderful if all armies possessed by the vassal were given to you automatically and after the vassal could produce no more units as you would be in command of their defenses. it would also be good if they paid you their income, though, at a penalty to express it as a form of tribute, not just them giving you their money. they should be allowed to build their own buildings, etc. also, if they begin to incur debt, or such that they have negative gross money, they would miss out on tribute and be subject to reprimand...
vassals should be allowed to break the agreements so that they don't end up as psuedo states controlled by your faction.
