Merry Christmas to everyone !![]()
do you have any other link to download the game i can't download it from the deposit files link
I will see what I can do for you
A Happy New Year for everybody and thanks for trying out the mod. I can see that there have been over 100 downloads in 3 1/2 weeks, so thanks to everybody who enjoyed it and reported his experience.
Here are my replies to what you wrote (as far as I'm able to reply anythings reasonable):
1. Instructions: you're right. I'll add ahowls instructions to the next version.
2. Characters disappearing from map. I never faced that problem and need help to understand and sort it out. Well, maybe it is no bug, but normal function of fog of war. When a characters ends his turn on a light forest hex he IS SUPPOSED to disappear (unless you got a spy nearby)!
3. Pontus/Parthia: Strange, I need to check it.
4. Senate. Don't push that button!
5. Family trees: are still the same size and since they were a hell of work, I don't think I will change that very much. Morever I believe that after a successful expansion you will need your generals very soon. What could be done however is reduce the size and the fighting force of the general's units. I will try to include that in the next version.
6. Roman generals on blitzkrieg in southern Italy: This is a general problem of equilibrium in the game. I don't think that there is a solution that fits all situations. The problem is that the Roman faction needs to be very strong in the beginning to put them on a course for expansion. In the current version this works well for the computer player. But a human player playing Rome will probably find it too easy. I addressed this in my instructions, recommending to adapt your strategy to some moderation, giving your enemies at least a chance to resist you. Making the Romans weaker would be no solution, because in that case, if you play another faction, the Roman computer faction risks to be eliminated very early. So this is what I recommend: 1. Play the Romans only on the highest level. 2. Dissolve armies you don't need. 3. Eliminate your generals through suicide missions where they really stand no chance, 4 Adapt your strategy and don't exploit every computer stupidity you encounter, at least in the beginning.
For my part, as contribution in the next version, I will weaken the Roman general's units.
7. Easy temples: These are the downfall of full polytheism. In the beginning you have only one temple, then three or four, but after a while you can build any temple available. You're not supposed to build them all, but if you like, you actually can. This was introduced to represent the variety of ancient religions, but it can make the game too easy, indeed. So we need to work on it. I have already reduced the benefits of many temples regarding satisfaction and order, but I'm open to further suggestions. One thing that will be most definitely in the next version is negative effects for buildings such as barracks. This will make more temples necessary and moreover it can be easily introduced. But I still would like to hear other ideas on how to make the game more challenging regarding population unrest.
Regarding the temples of other nations, however, it s quite realistic that you don't destroy them, because ancient history didn't know many religious conflicts of that kind. When the Greeks, Romans or Carthaginians conquered another nation, they simply took over their gods without destroying the temples.
8. CTDs (Zephyronian): What you describe appears to be a wrong installation. Maybe you didn't install the game on a vanilla version 1.5 of RTW? What is exactly the button you push before the CTD occurs?
9. Download should be working now.
I think in a week or two there will be another release including some of your ideas. This one will be fully compatible with the current version 1.2, so you can continue playing your current scenarios. You will only have weaker generals, more unrest from barracks and other adjustments regarding equilibrium. If you have any other suggestion let me know and if possible I'll try to include it.
Enjoy!
Deposit files works fine, just if using firefox to allow site if script blocker,as link wont work otherwise-blocked.
I have Windows 8. This, for some reason won't work on there, even though the vanilla game works fine. It acts like it's going to come up, but then it just crashes back to the desktop with no error message. I have Rome patched to 1.6 for BI. Could that be the problem?
I don't think so since I have BI patched to 1.6 as well.
It could be Windows 8 but I don't know how or why. It could be that you installed wrong?
If there is some remnant of another mod left over somewhere in the vanilla files, would that affect anything? Also, I've followed the instructions for install and creation of the shortcut, but it still refuses to start. I've tried every windows 8 compatibility setting, but it still doesn't come up. I've played the mod in the past on my old computer, and i thought it was very well-done.
Yes that would. You may need to reinstall RTW
Can I see some screenshots of this mod in action?
One of the few to still have his first avatar in place here on TWC.
I sometimes miss this place you know. This is where my journey began.
There are some screens in the General Discussion thread. For the people who play this mod, could you contribute some screen shots of battles?
I suggest downloading this mod, even if there are not a lot of screens. It's a very unique mod!
Here are some screenshots I made before beginning "Europa Barbarorum" mod.

It`s a bugs???
& whether you are going to remake the economic part of the mod? After 4-5 turn in the my "Treasury" will form a "huge hole".
May be you need some help?![]()
Sorry to my so bad english.
I'm not too sure. I do not know a whole lot about intricacies of the mod itself. Yeah, we could use some help. Post your ideas and suggestions in the suggestions thread.![]()
Zephyronix and EmeraldPhoenix, please, let us know if you were able to solve your problems!
It is important that you make sure to install RTH on a genuine version 1.5.
I'm playing this game on Windows 7 and have no problems. Is anybody playing it on Windows 8? Please let us know!
I would like to make the next version 1.3 ready for BI and ALX, but I'm afraid that goes beyond my competence. Who can help?
Those strange ancillaries are no bug, but reference to historic persona. I'd like to implement them for leaders, too, but haven't yet completed that part.
Treasury problems are a part of the challenge. You're supposed to develop your trade to solve it. Some factions must either conquer or downsize their military.
Red-bearded, your help is welcome. What is your field of competence and which parts would you like to develop?
In reference to my previous problem, I tried running another mod with it's own folder(The Hellenic States), and it seems to be working fine. I don't know if THS runs in the same way RTH does, but if so, I have no idea what the problem would be. I might have remnants of another mod still left in the game files, but wouldn't that also provide problems for THS?
