IF ai Oversmart you

Ok if Ai oversmart you in everybattle would you still play? I certainly wouldnt because i hate losing For example they ambush you ,lure you into the mud , Pretend to retreat then ambush you.

I'd stare at the screen for a few seconds with my mouth open, but after the initial shock I'd be very pleased!

The AI has outsmarted me in Medieval Total War on the campaign map.

Or else it was them cheating. Either way, the Almohads are crushing my Turks.

I'd wish that would happen. I think it would be very kewl and challenging. I hate winning easily every time. That's just not challenging for me to continue playing. Plus the victory doesn't satisfy me anymore when I've won 'just another battle' without difficulties.

lol, you play what twice a year then,
you've lost if only because you got bored and took some dumb army and got beat.
i doubt theres anyone thats played 1.5 years multi and hasnt taken some really stupid
all arcani roman army or something that stands no chance of winning you just did
it because of boredom.

Cool off Boris, lol. Honestly, it would be good to see the AI outsmart me, but to win with brute force, I do not think so.

I remeber once when I was out smarted by the AI in MTW all those years ago. I was england and I was on my way to north Africa and I was Killing every thing in my way then Out of no were the British il's were invaded by and huge Muslim army with no standing army to oppose them. It took me years to get a proper army to challenge them and by the time I got there it took another 10 years to get them out of there. it would be another 10 years befor I get my army retrained and got them to africa to claim my prize. Because of the AI it set me back about 30 years and I couldn't be happier :tooth:

well i wouldn't reload just because i was beaten in a battle, used to play like that but in reallity its no different from cheating and using god mode, so no i want an interesting game not an win after win, wheres the fun in that?

It never happened in RTW, but a few times in MTW I was like...holy ****...I just got owned...

I'll admit if I always lost I'd get ******, but when it happens just every so often it only serves to make the game more satisfying.

A computergame is no fun if you can't win, so I would play at an easier level

The dificulty level isn't such an issue because they can simply give combat bonuses to the player/AI.
The real problem is that AI is too predictable.
Once you played a few battles you can pretty much anticipate the computers next more, and this makes it boring in the end.

Like when you experience a massive civil war and an emergent faction suddenly erupts in your borders, and you go on to conquer the map?

That has happened to me, once.

I would be really pleasantly surprised!

Would add some more depth to the game if you had to think "What are they planning now?" Usually AI just throws all of its armies to attack along the roads and in battle, they just run around and get slaughtered.

Let me guess, youre kind of boy with an age of 12, that always "I want to Win I wont to have it MY way" talks? Does it fear you? Realism?
Anyway. If the AI were better then me, i would doubt and think that i am maybe a bad commander and i most become better in the game.

Beat the game.
Noone is supurior the the game.

The AI in Rome outsmarted me several times, it's like they went to the future with a time machine and learned advanced guirrila(sp?) tactics or it could simply be luck

In MTW, I once I was in such a "check-mate" position, that I either had to give up my last few lands to survive or run and fight until the last man is dead, since the enemy had a numerical advantage, not to mention I was financially crippled. I felt like "Thank God, I cannot win all the time, otherwise I would get bored". I can't say the same thing about RTW, where I simply steamrolled the entire map without much problems and I lost interest in the vanilla campaigns.
