I just had an amazing battle! Sorry, forgot to take screenies![]()
Extended Greek Mod, I entered a custom siege battle as greek rebels (me) defending a greek village vs romans (AI).
Huge unit size.
I had 1 unit of Armoured Elephants (full xp and upgrades), 8 archers, 8 slingers and 3 indian longbowmen.
AI had a mighty pre-marian army: 1 general, 3 equites, 6 hastati, 6 principes and 4 triarii.
I placed my slingers stacked (completely) in the main entrance, archer placed in the same manner just behind and then the longbowmen in the rear (less stacked), the elephants were in the flank passage.
I was expecting all my soldiers could fire, only about a fifth of them did (they were massively stacked), the romans charged all they had against my slingers but my men were so close together they barely felt it. I ordered the slingers to fight in melee and the archers and longbowmen to use fire ammo. After about 7 minutes of slow kills (like I already said, my archers couldn't fire) the slingers started to rout (what a mess!) and so I decided to charge with the archers. :tooth:
The fight continued but the romans were well armoured and were almost imortal![]()
I got full of it and took my elephants out of the village, around the enemy's rear and charged...
About 8 instant routs, the rest routed in a few seconds, I used my elephants to literally smash a way to my archers and then back again, and again.![]()
Their general charged my eles and got killed almost instantly![]()
I killed every single roman (except 7 equites)
In the end I killed 2834 romans, of which about 2700 were caused by the 72 elephants in those back and forth rides around the entrance of the village....you had to see that
