Random Flash Floods and Earthquakes

Has anyone experienced random Natural disasters in game (excluding the Plague trigger/Historic triggers) ?



I’m a big fan of them and their historic precedent and have altered the frequency and upped slightly the min and max values in descr_disasters.txt. for Rome 1 turn...just for personal preference.



Over the course of several Rome 1 Turn VH/VH campaigns, including regressing many turns and playing through again to “rescue” factions from elimination I’ve collaborated some data.



The strange thing is, the disasters, with one exception, a storm “region” trigger “Sicilia_Poenicum” didn’t really correspond to the descr_disaster. txt triggers...
However, after mapping and pondering, I’m coming to a hypothesis that random flash flood and earthquake, if not Historic event triggered disasters, all occur in the “test climate” (pink) zone of map climates.tga see pic



Has anyone else experienced random Flash floods and Earthquakes (not the Pontus historic event ) in game, what campaign 2.6, and where roughly did they occur?

Flash floods? That's something new. Earthquakes often happen in Spain, in my countless plays atleast and some very sporadic in Italy, Greece, Turkey... When I think about it I can remember there was an earthquake in the steppes...

@ Darth Bane..very interesting, (refutes my personal theory with the steppes bit)...but the rest fits, many thanks!

Edit, actually it doesn't refute, there is test climate at Campus Aorsi Port location

Actually, there is a reason for that. The area covered by the 'test_climate' is geologically active and has been for thousands of years. So I think the tendency was to make most things happen there. As for 'storms'...they do not work (very often) in RTW or BI. But storms do work well in Alex.

@ DVK..That's really interesting.
I've checked modding tutorials etc, even Med 2 forums etc over the years, so I've seen the main tutorials etc (Border Reiver? did one off the top of my head if I remember) but I was totally unaware that running off a different exe ( if that's the phrase) made a difference.
That's the first I've seen it mentioned (Just to state, I'm running off Barb Inv)...

...maybe I'll have to pick up a cheap Alex at some point for completion.

EDIT. genuinely Just picked up a cheap Alex off the net...extra Sale to the Creative Assembly.

The issue of storms working in Alex was just something I discovered completely by mistake. I have seen them in BI on very rare occasion, but not often. However, the event does work in Alex nicely. Pretty cool to, nice black clouds and flashes of lighting...you can watch your troops die as a result.

I've just experienced volcanoe eruption near Capua. I had 100% full stack and you can see in the picture, how many troops I got left (only about ~7%).
