I am sick and tired of people accusing every Catholic priest of being a Pedophile, it ****es me off! People like to say that Catholics are all free and equal in the world, but no, we aren't. We aren't being treated equally when our priests, the central pillars of our religion, are seen as Child-raping monsters. With a religion as vast as Roman Catholicism, there's bound to be a few wackos in the ranks of our priests and pastors, but are they all child-molestors? NO! So quit accusing them of such you bigoted sons of *****es! Sorry, got a little carried away there, but this just ****es me off so much. I was talking with some buds today, we were talking about religion, I said I was Catholic and my friends, completely seriously, asked me if my priest had raped me yet. That ****es me off!

Nevertheless one should question why this crime is rife amongst the ranks of a religious order that preaches abstinence, restraint and castigates many sexual practices as abnormal and even references to extra-marital sex as unethical.

But, seriously, I don't think people really think all Catholic Priests are pedophiles. People just like to crack jokes and make humor, to relive ourselves of our own pent-up anger. Sometimes, the only way to make a joke is to generalize and get to the punchline so we can all laugh. The whole "catholic priest = pedo" thing isn't a real and literal generalization, it's just people messing around. Most people understand that only few Priests were actually engaged in pedophilic acts.

Find a verse in the Koran endorsing wife beating, the Koran and the Bible have both taken a lot of flak when really the people we should be looking at are the ones who choose to interpret these texts in ways which lead to wrong doing. Take a look at this:

I think it is a practice that happens infrequently when men force themselves to celibacy. Zen Buddhist priests in feudal japan had a certain amount of notoriety for sexual relationships with their young male students, and they were celibate.

Okay well if we must take the koran so seriously and obey its precept by that same logic we must also take the bible at its every word. Thats right, the slaying and the stoning warts and all, I'll not rake up the usual about stoning homosexuals how about slavery for a change?

Jesus did not overturn this sort of thing either:

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place."



Yet we accept freely that the bible and christianity does not endorse this sort of thing nor the slaying of people for worshipping golden calves. The Koran is put to such scrutiny though, is it not at all possible that there is people out there making a good interpretation of the koran and deriving a peaceful message? Of course, just like there is a conservative movement out there that is unfortuantly popular. No coincidence though that low education and poverty are synonomous with bad religion. Christianity has had its dark ages amidst such conditions and only the wealth, education and secularism saved it. America admittedly has ways to go yet.

The joke is not about old men having sexual perversions with children, it's about the people discussed in the topic. Anyone who describes all Catholic priests as pedophiles is, in my opinion, sincerely lacking in the mind. Hence, the topic has no real meaning, for stupidity should not be addressed. Hence, my joke.
