MED2GOLD dont recognizes Windows 8

hi, i have a new laptop with windows 8. i installed med2 and had no problems. two weeks everything was fine. today i started my laptop and got this message when i tried to launch the game:

the message says that i have no compatible version of windows to start the game and demands me to install at least windows 98SE !!!

has anyone a solution for this problem. how can i fix it?

1. Log in as Administrator and stay logged in as such.
2. disable the UAc via the registry method and leave it that way.

Still have the problem?
3. Take ownership/control of C: drive.

Still have problems?
4. Install any place but Program Files or Program Files (x86).

thx for this advice. i will follow these steps. by the way, my operation system still recognizes my old rtw disk. very strange thing...

Did you clean the registry before reinstalling? CA's uninstaller is a POS on a good day and does not clean up anything it installs.

untill today i had no reasons to uninstall med2 because i installed the game the first time. i also assume that it has something to to with the latest windows uptdate to win 8.1.
but today i will follow the steps described by irishron at first. i hope, it will work.

i updated win 8 again and everything works fine for the moment. no idea what went wrong...

Microsoft can screw up their own updates and have to patch it. There was a Win 7 one a few months ago that screwed up my mouse drivers and had to do a system restore.

After 11 days it randomly fixed itself....

Now almost a year later and after about a week of updating my system to 8.1, the issue crops up again

I think getting Med2 Gold edition was a bad idea.

hello again. yesterday my problem appeared again. i cant launch the med 2 gold cd. i tried also the second install-cd. same error-message. has anyone a suitable solution?
