Default The Wolf Hunt at Hollard Hall

    Forces involved

Lady Darklyn ( +2 Assassination, +2 Survival, +1 Duel, +1 Battle Rolls, +1 Siege Rolls)
Ser Darkwood (+4 Battle Rolls, +3 Siege Battles, +4 Duels, +2 Pillage, +3 Survival)
    300 Household Knights
    400 Capital Militia
    200 Kingswood Gamekeepers
    945 Light Inf
    567 Heavy Inf
    283 Polearms
    270 Archers
    180 Light Cavalry
    90 Heavy Cavalry

In what could probably be considered overkill, roughly 3,250 soldiers of Duskendale descend on Hollard Hall, to root out and kill the wolf pack that has been terrorizing the smallfolk of the land. Sending out the light cavalry in groups of 30 men each to scout the area and attempt to locate the wolves, or at least herd them in so the main force may surround them on all sides.

"Send forward the light horse. We'll keep the infantry and heavier cavalry in reserve unless the horsemen manage to locate and surround the enemy's base." "My lady, we're talking about wolves. This is excessive force." "So? We crush them in detail and prevent any escaping. It will allow the smallfolk to at least not having to worry about a pack of vicious wolves for now." "True." Darklyn turns to Vardis, smiling. "It is also practice for facing actual enemies." "I suppose so..." Darkwood sighs, watching the army move into position and the light horse ride off to scout for the "enemy".

Rolling d20 for wolves. Rolled 18 wolves. 5/20 they slip through the net, rolled 7, your forces locate the wolf den and suggest the pack is around 18 strong.

Darklyn watches from her mount as the force moves into position around the wolf den. Ser Darkwood, to her right, looks at the cave in the side of a small hill, with some forest around it making the heavy cavalry likely ineffective against the beasts. "Send word for the pikemen to advance into a spear wall three ranks deep, with the archers twenty paces behind the spearwall. The archers will use incendiary arrows in a effort to burn out the wolves into the pikemen. Two companies(400 total) of heavy footmen will assemble with one company on each side of the pike wall behind it. If the wolves are not lured out, we shall rethink our plan." "If they are not entirely in their lair?" "Keep the light horse screening the army's flanks along with four hundred light infantrymen." "As you command, my lady."

ooc: I honestly don't know what to do here. You have 270 archers. Consider the 18 wolves dead with more arrows on their bodies than they had strands of fur... This was a character's RP year event not a battle event. The King was supposed to go on a jolly hunt with some allies/enemies and it would serve as a space for attempted assassination or dealmaking.

ooc : Neither do I, as I've never rp'ed something like this before. Sorry I wasted your time then..might as well delete it.

ooc: Not at all, the wolves are dead now, that resolves the event. It was simply in an... unintended way.

ooc : Yeah, I guess so. Sorry for my misunderstanding of the event, I thought by infestation it'd be a bigger pack than at most 20 wolves.

With the wolves dead, the completely unnecessary host of 3,235 soldiers and their leaders turn back to Duskendale, Ser Vardis arguing with Lady Elizabel about the point of this entire excursion, and questioning her if she'd send excessive force after scouts in war the entire way.
