    Default Massive Slowdown

Quick question for RTR Platinum. I can play RTR Gold with huge settings & mostly high settings with no problems. However, with RTR Platinum I have a major frame rate drop. Does anyone know how to fix this?

If you have a copy of Vanilla on your computer, try copying the data\descr_grass.txt file over to your Platinum data folder, or you could turn it off completely in your settings menu. That should help with battles (grass is a huge resource drain in my experience).

Other than that, I'm not too sure what the problem is.

Is grass really that different drom Gold to Platinum? Guess I'll put a mower to the grass then. Hope it helps. Thanks for the reply !

I didn't think the grass text file was changed from gold to platinum? I know the original RTW is easier on your machine that gold's. I heard somewhere that platinum "does not use sprites"... surely that couldn't be true? it sure *looks* like it does...

EDIT: Sweet, that post bumped me from Knight, to Knight Commander! lol

Sprites has to do with unit quality on highest i think it doesnt use sprites at all.

It probably isn't any different from Gold to PE. But the difference between Gold and Vanilla is enough to cause slowdown on lots of computers, so I suggested it in case it does help in some way.

And yes, Platinum certainly uses sprites. Even on the maximum model detail, sprites are still used, albeit at a fairly large distance away.
