    Default Any mod that unstupifies campaign AI?

    I'm tired of constantly trying every mod, only to find the game utterly simple because the computer just wanders the map with units that are fragmented, and not led by a general. Its easy. The game is just boring this way. Does any mod that I haven't seen yet fix this? Campaign map even with very hard is just offensively retarded.

    Its hard coded, so not any mods, but Darthmod does make the battle AI better by the use of clever formations.

    I am playing darthmod right now, v8.1 and I'm not impressed. I've never seen the formations used to their advantage. especially when they attack me with 5 armies, its easy just to pick off each army at a time.

    try s.p.q.r. . ai will attack you with 2 or more full stacks every turn. and it is a bit complicated when you are under attack by 3 gaul, 2 macedon and 1 greek army at the same time.

    Thats because SPQR makes troops cost and upkeep very cheap.

    Oh well, thanks for your responses, I guess I'm just impossible to please. I miss MTW's AI. MTW2's won't be any better than Rome because its just a reskin of rome.

    That would not consider a strong AI. Its the AI being stupid. In the campaign game, the AI chooses its targets based on parameters and when it gets stuck, it produces large armies stagant at one location. The best example would be the Scipii in West Africa after conquering Carthage. The campaign AI is very complicated to understand how it works, but Darth Mod 8.1 is the best AI changer I have seen, in both battle and campaign.

    i wasnt impresed by ai {im aware of ai's IQ :tooth:}
    i was impressed by the scene

    this is spqr mod. and when ai decides to attack you you are in deep trouble.

    armies in picture are not stuck, it is greek attempt to conquer whole asia minor.
    and ai in spqr is better than in vanilla. carthage is for example capable of making an invasion on sicilia with 4 or more stacks + reenforcements.
    but it is too agressive, it is nearly impossible to be in peace with any neighbour faction.

    The armies shown in the picture are indeed 'stuck'...it has been a longstanding problem that modders are trying to fix, or at least make better. The picture suggests to me that the AI greeks could 'see' the target they wanted across the water...but to get to it, they have to go around. On the way, they lose 'sight' of the target because it's further than their movement points, so they get stuck there because the AI seems to think the army was lost. So they build another, and another, and another, and so on.
    One of the things I've done to help alleviate this is to greatly increase the Character movement points in 'Descr_character.txt'............mine are set to 200. Supposedly, this allows the AI to 'see' further on the map. It helped a lot to lessen this waste of AI resources. You could experiment with larger or smaller, but I know it helps.
    I don't think it's fair to say the AI in RTW is 'stupid'....in this case, it just needs some binoculars
