Icon4 The 10 Things You Want From Rome II

Hey guys, some of you may helped shape this video, about 1 week ago I created this thread asking people to rank their top 10 things they wanted from Rome II. I took it upon myself to read every one, score them in a list, add up the scores and create a video about it for TWC! I want to thank all who asked me about the video and helped shape it, and to those reading this who are about to watch thank you all

Here is the video: To see how I created it, read below. Thank you all so much for your support in this effort.

    How I made the list:
I added a weight to all the scores, if something got #1 on someones list, I gave it 10 points, if something got #10 I gave it 1 point. At the end I added up all the points and chose the top 10. I also categorized the topics into these 25 categories:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    -Better Naval Battles.
    -Dimplomacy Balances.
    -Improved UI.
    -Campaign Balancing.
    -More Build Slots/Buildings.
    -Civil War Improvement.
    -Mod Support.
    -More Animations.
    -Turns Per Year.
    -Seasons.
    -Politics.
    -Battle Mechanics.
    -Optimization .
    -City View.
    -Campaign AI.
    -Battle AI.
    -Family Tree.
    -More Technology.
    -More videos/faction intros.
    -More Wonders.
    -Unwalled Cities.
    -Transport Ships.
    -Remove Capture Points.
    -More Random Events.
    -Battle Landscape Diversity.
    -Multiplayer Improvements.
    -Improved Generals.

    Thanks again!

Hi Darren just watched your video all the way through and have to agree with all, It has been such a disappointing release and experience to play, after CA promised so much, we were i believe let down massively, the only good things i can take from this game were the fight animations, the new graphics, music score and some of the settlements look great, apart from that it is awful and i cannot see CA ever really addressing any of the major issues you have pointed out and highlighted in your great video, as it will undermine there position, 'CA' and make them look weak, they just say (its a feature not a bug), no guard mode.. and no family tree?

Well done bro. And the background victory music near #1 was a very nice touch. Brought back some memories of good times.

Lol at those kangooroo infantries jumping from the ladders XD. Yup, Battle AI and Battle Mechanics are 2 crucial themes which should always be prioritized in this kind of game. And even tho you didn't mention unit collisions/battle animations/warscape issues, which I think are central to many issues, you did a great job.

For more in-depth about the aforementioned issues, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXkWfEIALxM

    Warning, explicit language...

    Cheers!

Yeah, I just felt exhausted by the last point, I mean, you could do a 30min video on AI alone so I didn't mention it much I guess. I really feel the warscape engine isn't at all the problem, and thats because I'm a games programmer. I won't explain too much here, but basically, it's not the engine, in fact that particular engine is pretty good at what it was designed to do, show off high detail models up close, rendering in what you see when you need to and unloading it when you dont.

AI, unit collisions, things of that nature, are coded ontop of the engine, not within it itself, so they can be rather easily fixed without changing engine. I say easily, I just mean easy as opposed to the common theory that this engine won't allow for anything else. If CA wanted the units to never collide ever, they could actually do that with literally a few lines of code, the fact that each unit has a bounding box / volume and radius means you could easily disallow these to ever cross paths. Its a design choice that they let that happen, probably in order to let units find eachother for the animations, and so things dont get pushed round too much.

That video is very good also, I've actually seen it before I think.

Anyways, Thank you for watching, and I'm glad people responded to the joke at the end

    Rest In Peace Family Trees

Rome 2 - *General What's His Name Just Died
    Me, "Who's that?
Rome 2 - "That one guy in that army over there."
Me, "Oh who was his family, any children left, any wives to continue the line?"
    Rome 2 - *Shrugs* "Uh, I don't know, here's a new General."
Me, "K, wait how did he teleport to my army over there?"
Rome 2 - "Uh, Uh... look over there!"

    -----

Rome 1 - "Your General Amazing had died on the eve of battle at 87, that one with the really cool traits. He is survived by Wife Coolbeans, and 2 daughters."
    Me, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
    *Head hangs low in sorrow*

*The Army poised for counter-attack in Somewhere Theatre*
Me, "How will we win now?"
Captain, "We have lost our General Amazing, but we will fight. Fight or die! For General Amazing!"

*After a close victory, the 10th Army has survived and retreated for the winter*
Me, "For exemplary service and bravery, General Amazing's family is offering to adopt Captain Brave Person."

    ETC.

very well done mate, hopefully CA take this concerns into consideration and fix it in the future patches. specially the damn Politics, and family tree. after finishing the civil war, game is kind of boring.. they need to look into that too. may be adding more events would be cool.

that's pretty much sums up our thoughts on our campaign Taskeen well said

They should've just added the rome 1 expansion in rome 2 vanilla, barbarian invasion. After you're done with the civil war, Barbarians invade from the east!

wow, great job man!! had a great laugh with the opening of the number 1 vid.
Reg: They've taken everything we had and what have they ever given us in return!?
Xerxes: The aqueduct. Reg: Oh yeah, yeah they gave us that. Yeah that's true.
    Activist 1: And the sanitation!
Stan: Oh yes...sanitation, Reg you remember what the city used to be like.
Reg: all right, that's two things that the Romans have done...
    Matthias: And the roads...
Reg: Well yes obviously the roads goes without saying. But apart from...
    Activist 2, 3, 4, 5: Irrigation...Medicine...Education...and the wine...
Francis: Yeah the wine. That's something we'd really miss if the Romans left.

    Darren great job! Well done...
Questions that CA never answered and propably never will....
Is it much for us to ask Rome AI siege abillity same as Rome 1?
I explain my self..When AI was gathering two or more armies to besiege a city in Rome 1 when they attacked they used a vast number of siege engines such rams, ladders and towers with every kind of artilery units they could have. Defenders saw attackers to attack the same time from all directions as a realistic city asault should be! That was one of the best features in Rome 1!
Something scimilar but not same existed in Shogun 2. How is it possible CA to lose all that expirience from far or near past?????
Is it much for us to ask CAI scimilar to M1TW? With invasions from all sides of our lands, with naval invasions (that existed succefully in Rome 1 too but lost in M2TW), withdraw of an AI controled army when battlefield or numbers did not give it many chanches of victory (something scimilar existed also in Rome1 but it was only in real battles and not on campaign map but both did not existe in any TW games that followed).....
Is it much for us to ask for features that CA CREATED and developers were to lazy to copy and modify them in the TW games that followed?

TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.
Despite the mod is dead does not mean that anyone can use its material
    read this to avoid misunderstandings.

IWTE tool master and world txt one like this, needed inorder to release TGC 1.0 official to help TWC to survive.
Adding MARKA HORSES in your mod and create new varietions of them. Tutorial RESTORED.
