Default Notebook Hardware for Roma Surrectum

So as we know RTW uses only 1 Core. What will be better for a new notebook? A new i7 dual core at 3,4 ghz or a i7 quad core with 3,6 ghz with same technology? RTW performance matters only. And as far as i know when it's about Graphics card, only a lot Video Ram is important and not so much about how fast the card is, right?

As long as the Video card is matched to the main processor and the bus (which should not only be the case with a well constructed laptop, but should also be evident from any reviews done), then the amount of GRAM is irrelevant (half a Meg is sufficient and I suspect there will now always be more) and all that really matters for RSII is the main processor speed (which is why some of the budget processors these days, whilst fine for many things and even for games when made to off-load processing to the graphics chip).

As long as the true speed is above 3Ghz, then you are unlikely to have any trouble.

My standalone that is dedicated to RSII has a single-core Intel at 3.0Ghz, a fairly basic graphics card with only half a Meg, and only 3Gb of RAM - does pretty well indeed. It's main benefits are that it has only WinXP and RTW/RSII on it, apart from the drivers et al - nothing else; no AV; and not connected to the internet. It's these last 3 that make the biggest difference, as well as not playing at theoretical maxed settings.

My laptop (now over 4yrs old will also run RTW/RSII fairly well - and nearly all problems went away after determining that the AV s/w was the most likely culprit.

In addition, buying actual disc(s) for RTW/BI/Alex is probably one of the best investments ever if you like RTW and Mods.

RSII 2.5/2.6 Tester and pesky irritant to the Team. Mucho praise for long suffering dvk'.
