Recruitment Thread: Skilled Texturers and Variantmeshdefinition Wizards wanted!

DeI is recruiting! There are currently a number of positions within the mod team that are in need of filling, these are listed below. If you believe you have the skills advertised, please PM the responsible person which is listed for each category. This thread will be updated as positions are filled and new ones become avaliable.

    Graphical Resources

    Team leader: Meneros

[Filled] Shield maker: currently we are searching for a talented texturer that would be interested in making Greek shields for the mod. The highest priority are new patterns for the thureos type shields.

[Filled]Icon maker: DeI is planning to add a large amount of units over the coming months, and because of that we are looking for a dedicated icon maker that can work in the vanilla style.

[Filled]Barbarian textures: Areas that we are looking to expand upon in the texture department are the barbarians, primarily iberians and germanics. We are looking for a talented texturer that is able to make new armours and such for these cultures.

[Filled] Barbarian variantmeshdefinitions: Aside from someone who can make new textures, we also need someone willing to work on the variantmeshdefinitions. Here we are looking for someone that is experienced in working with these files, and can be creative in putting together new units whilst still adhereing to historical accuracy.

Noooooooooo! Why not get BullGod to do the icons?? They are so god damn good and the only element of immersion available in this game atm.

This is pulled directly from his FAQ:

    4. If you like my mod and wish to use it in your project I don't see why not. Just credit me, link my mod as a source and if you'll modify those icons - state that you did. I don't want to take credit for what you did with them, especially if you'll ruin my work Also, would be nice to let me know via PM, or in this thread that you're using them.

Another important point he makes in his FAQ:

    3. I don't plan to make unit cards for any mod until I finish modding vanilla.

I think DeI should import these unit cards then snap him up after he has finished modding vanilla units to make the rest of the additional DeI unique units.

If DeI don't want to wait until he finishes all the vanilla units, then I suggest they advertise for a position for someone to make his style of unit cards for the DeI unique units.

I'm actually a little surprised DeI hasn't leaped on his work already!

We have already made a decision to stick with the vanilla style for icons.

Please reconsider! Looking at those unit cards adds so much flavour to the units - and subsequently your armies.

Not only that but it makes it far easier to tell which unit is which at a glance.

Please consider doing a vote at least. I'm sure you'll find most DeI users would prefer BullGods to vanilla.

Yes. Please stay minimalist with the unit icons. Easier to scale/change as the game evolves. Cleaner aesthetic. For those that like more, like bullgod's, it's just an additional mod to add.

Meh, Bullgods units are nice, very well made. But some may say they shatter 'immersion' with their cartoony-take on the soldiers. Sure, it's easier to discern which soldier is what especially because of the unique names implemented into DeI, it just may irk some people though.

It could be done as an optional on the side, I reckon.

I'm more for having normal icons , later you can vote all tu try adding Bullgod into DeI project , but right now I personally would rather like to see more units & improved AI .

Precisely my thought, while the aesthetic and visual help is nice. I'm sure DeI is already buckling under a belt of work and stress; especially from the new patch coming soon. I can imagine the DLC/patch will allow some more capabilities in the BAI department.

Indeed, that is also a large reason why we have chosen not to use Bullgod's icons.

Aight, fair play. We'll just have to get used to the vanilla unit cards then...

I just hate it how some of them are so hard to distinguish between quickly. Perhaps you could colour code those little yellow symbols at the top? e.g. red for heavy infantry. Or something equally as logical to prevent unnecessary searching for the right units in the heat of a messy battle.... for when you have time, of course

    Great idea! red-heavy infantry, green-spears, brown-cavalry,yellow-ranged infantry,general-black symbol.

I just don't like that this unit card style is completely opposite of every other TW game I've played. It's just pointlessly different. I'd settle for someone just taking a picture of each individual soldier type and using that as the unit icon to these cards.

Yeah , but for xample , I dont like ingame screenshot of unit used as icon . Other like that , or cartoonish style , or some 10th other style ... if you are all so willing to play with new unit icons , you can always try to make your submod with them ?

I use BullGod mod with our mod DeI, sure makes game more immersive. When using regular icon cards it's just not the same, so why don't you use what he's already done and later you can fill in the cards that need to be done. (the way his mod works, is shows his cards and the regular cards where he doesn't have one made.) So therefore, all a person has to do is make a few new cards to fill in the ones he hasn't made. BUT, REALLY, check with a vote and you will see we all want BULLGODs mod CARDS. By the way I love this MOD, and I'm using BullGods mod with it.
