Game crashing during battles

Hi. I have had this problem back and forth for a while now. I have a pretty high-end computer, that was the stores best 1,5 years ago. Quad core with 16 gig ram and two GTX570 cards.
Now, the problem is I should be able to play this game on the highest settings with no problem, yet the game recommends medium settings, and when ever I play a battle with more than 3000 men on the screen, the game starts lagging.
I recently played a campaign battle where the AI attacked me with 3 armies. After about 5 min, the game CTD, with the message: "Kingdoms has encountered an unspecific error and will now exit"
Later I played a small scale siege where I attacked with maybe a 1000 men and the AI had 500..everything went well but after 1h the game CTD.

Logs and computer specifications will follow (I'm at my girlfriends house)
What can bee the problem? The power supply? Overheating?

This game loves running out of UI memory on me after a 100 or so regions conquered.

In many ways, the game is a one trick pony that uses old beat up 32 bit XP code, one core of the cpu and badly optimized to use it.
