any ideas what might be a cause of that?
I have tried everything I knew (new nvidia drivers, lowering resolution etc) but text in Windows (running XP Home) just show long white streaks.Reboots don't work either.Any ideas ?

Looks fine to me. What the hell are you on about? no, sorry you're right that looks terrible, never seen that probem before but is it's not your drivers it will be your card itself i'm afraid.
The screenshot took it like tits hould have been you need to select the picure to view the effect. Every-one else who is viewing. I think.
Or is it the hidden folders you're on about? Just disable them.

There white streaks, shadowlikes not sure if they can be seen on screen capture.For the time being it only text is affected -did try movies , games etc and it al seem to be working ok
Unless is a monitor (did reset it) looks lke another Window reinstall coming up...

White streaks? I don't see any white streaks. If you are going to reinstall Windows just to get rid of some white streaks in texts, thats just a waste of time.

Have you tried rolling Windows back to a date before the white streaking appeared?

I have tried that OTZ and problem is still there.You can't see those streaks on cap , they have also started appearing in in game texts
I will try to reinstall fonts...or might have to buy new monitor
