    Should be TW3 No wonder when I posted that earlier it seems like I'm talking about Terminator.

    Total War family tree
    From the beginning of the story, 3 TW generations have succeeded one to another:
    TW1 : Shogun and then Medieval TW
    TW2 : Rome and then Medieval 2 TW
    TW3 : Empire, Napoleon, Shogun 2 and finally Rome 2

    TW3 generation :

    TW3 generation had been create by CA as a versatile architecture. Proof is that this game engine generation succeeded to accept modifications added since Empire: TW.

    It is important to note that TW game is based on a set of different game engines, each one having its on specific functions. These game engines interact among each other through sets of data.
    This modular architecture allows upgrading the game by successive modifications, avoiding a whole change.

    For example, the « warscape engine » is the graphic engine name and is only one of the game engines.

    TW3 generation goals

    The new game engine was developed to meet following requirements:
    Decrease game startup time ;
    Increasing moddability (indeed ^^) ;
    Increasing game complexity ;
    Adding more data ;

    There won't be a Medieval III. They said they won't do anything with III anytime soon explicitly.

    How many years ago did Simpson say that again? I'd be very surprised if CA would let themselves be constrained by that one comment if they thought that Med 3 would be the most profitable next TW game for them to make. Large organisations go back on their word all the time.

    Am I the only one interested in seeing a WWII Total War?

    Maybe I just need a giant WWII fix at the moment. lol

    But I think it would be cool to play as Japan and be successful at spreading their empire across the pacific, Or Germany and Rule the world. haha
    A WWI Total War would most likely happen before that though. WWII or Medieval 3 I would like to see come down the pipe.

    I think a WWII game incorporating both global strategic play and real-time tactical battles could be fantastic, although whether it would resemble Total War as we know it is hard to say. It's hard to imagine, say, an air raid (one player's objective is to fly in, drop bombs on some target, and get out, another's is to shoot them with AA guns and scramble fighters to intercept) being handled very well with anything resembling TW as we know it.

    I would either want Victoria or Pike and Shot era. More so the Victorian period.

    They could get really creative with it too. They could encourage wars outside of Europe by having European nations taking European land from other European nations have strong diplomatic penalties. This way much of the fighting could take place in Asia, Africa, and India. Then, as an end-game thing, they could have everything boil over to end it with WWI. It wouldn't have to be the historic alliances, but you would be forced to pick a side and then an all out European War would commence. It wouldn't even have to be railroaded into Trench Warfare, it would just be the end game challenge.

    I want a Victorian TW, starting after Waterloo and stretching to 1900. Evolving warfare, stretching from early 19. century line infanterists to mid 19. century breechloading gunners until the early trench warfare sounds very intriguing.

    You get flying horses instead.

    Between 1500 and 1700 ? Thought this is what late era M2TW is for, especially with the mods, allthough the game does span out of the definition of medieval.

    Dude the game ends in 1530 before it even takes off. Not to mention the other factions did not really recruit any of the late renaissance units except myself so it felt incomplete and only started to happen late in the game and was over too soon. We need a full version of that timeline to really get the feel of it.

    "Renaisance TW" starts in 1550 (last version of 940Mb not available here), and "1648" mod around that same time I think. To that there is "Ogniem i Meczem" set in Europe only, "Eras Total Conquest" with a world map in this time ... "Expanded Americas" and I am sure I do not know all. To that there is a few with enlarged Eastern Europe map which also quite successfully tackle with the problems of range units in M2TW, and the other problems -"Bulat Steel", "Knyaz", "Sviatoslav". Of course there remain the limitations of that engine but last time I checked the problems had been solved and firing units look satisfactory in action. I do not want to say we do not need a new such game, but the period for sure has been covered. And, do not think that, they will construct the perfect game to satisfy you just because they got a company to work for that. Quickly run and unfinished even in half to what should be games is the history of the genre at present date. So you should limit the range of your expectations.
