What will be the next total war game?

I really hope it isn't Warhammer. Any fictional setting seems very out of place for the series. Personally, I'd like to see Medieval II(1066-1400s) with Dark Ages expansion (late 800s - 1066). Maybe Victoria(1830s-1930s) or Renaissance Total War (1400s-1700) after that. Former is more likely then the latter, since they already made a game in mid-1800s setting (FotS), and there'd be plenty of resources to use.

Medieval 3 total War
-Better AI and Graphics, Naval Warfare, Settlement Looks Differs from each other(better if based from history), Factions change religion based on historical timeframe, New Events (ex. Factions can host tournaments, New Emerging Factions, Religions and Settlements, More often Floods, Storms, Earthquake, etc. and new disasters like pests), More Factions, Settlements, Religions and Agents.

Medieval 3 would be cool as long as it was nothing like Rome 2. In that it should be more a simulator with historical accuracy and less Pajama Sam.

World War 1 would be sexy if they made an engine that made it work. Airplanes not sold separately.

Empire 2, but with the entire globe instead of pieces. Such yes.

Personally I'd like to see a Total War that covers at least the Old World (Europe, Asia, Northern Africa at least) and has the geographical density of HatG (for example mainland Italy with the modern day boundaries has at least 20 settlements) with 4-8 turns per year. Not sure about what time-frime, maybe very late 11th century to early 16th century? You could possibly conquer the entire known world and have massive amounts of variation in factions and the like and have early Medieval to early stages of Pike and Shot warfare.

Medieval 3. I mean, if they are not going for renaissance to late 1600 or something, which would be much better idea IMO. I'm not much excited about Warhammer themed TW, but lets see what the future holds :/

Has anyone else played Wargame: Red Dragon?

Its a RTS game set in the late Cold War era and has a campaign mode similar to the TW series (Round based map where you move and order troops and a RTS part).

I was wondering if CA could implement those mechanics into a possible WW1 TW....... But thats just me daydreaming

In case you havent tried it out, its really a fun game, although the learning curve is needlessly painful due to a lack of proper tutoriaol.

I saw some Medieval 2 videos again.......... and the memories they gave me

I really hope that CA goes for Medieval III... with a more in depth economic, diplomatic and political system, Jeff van Dyck making the OST and a new game engine ....

But thats just me day dreaming.. ^^

Justinian and Charlemagne! The next one should be on the much neglected timeframe between 476AD-8/900AD. They may not do it but they should focus on Justinian's attempt to reclaim the Roman Empire in the 6th century. The Merovingian-Carolingian Dynasty with the rise of Charlemagne. The beginnings of Islam and their military and economic encounters with the western world, etc.

I can see this happening tbh. As it stands, it is unlikely that CA are going to set their next new game in the classical, high/late medieval or enlightenment era having already covered each of those epochs in at least 2 games. The logical next step then would be to set their next game in a period between those areas, so we'll probably see either a Dark Age TW or a Renaissance era TW game. I'm personally hoping for the latter because they seem to find it easier to make gunpowder games on the TW3 engine.

I'm not sure how you really show the asynchronous warfare well in a video game. You either take extreme liberties in the accuracy department, or you try for accuracy and it's not fun for most. I had the same gripes with the way native american factions were portrayed.

Guerilla fighting is hard to show in a game. You either take extreme liberties in the accuracy department and totally misrepresent reality, or you strive for accuracy and it's not "fun" for more people.

Unfortunately, the next game is going to be Warhammer Total War and it will definitely suck. That might actually be the first TW game that doesn't receive a game-enhancing realism mod. Therefore, I'll never buy it.
Besides, the current CA team is not capable of developing deep wargames. What happened to the old CA Australia? At least they got the basics and the AI right (except for the knight's charge attack).

I agree that just plain sucks!! I dont want "fantasy" TW games I want real historical periods!! If they really do a Warhammer TW I'll never buy it either and I have owned every single total war game they have ever made!! Guys at Creative..PLEASE DO NOT DO THE WARHAMMER TW!!! KEEP IT REAL AND HISTORICAL!!!
